Game Review: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (XBOX 360)

Let me start this review with a little background on my gaming history. I am and older gamer, my first game system was Pong, and I have had one of every game system since then. I lean more towards combat flight simulation or racing games. I actually like my games a little on the simple side; I play more for fun and enjoyment then to gain gamer points, prestige, or any of those types of accomplishments. I have played all of the Call of Duty games and owned most of them.

Now for COD MW3, without a doubt this is by far my favorite of the series. Before this release I would have said that World at War would have had the number one spot, but no longer. Infinity Ward has finally answered my entire list of request for what a COD game needed to be, at least in my opinion. The game play is great, both single player and online. The graphics are nothing short of stunning, and the sound is awesome. I use a Dolby surround sound system and the sounds of the heavy machine guns are something else.

Infinity Ward added everything to the game to make it sheer perfection. The new modes add a dimension to the game that will give the gamer unending playtime. With several of the COD games I found myself getting bored with the games quickly, finish the single player in a day and then go online to play the same stuff over and over, the only difference was the available weaponry. Now MW3 offers other game modes that will keep me interested for much longer. The new kill confirmed mode is exceedingly enjoyable; I would purchase the game just for this mode.

The new survival mode will also add hours of fun and entertaining play to the game. The new weapons progression system allows you to be more competitive as soon as you jump into the game. On previous versions of COD, you were at the mercy of higher-ranking players because you did not have the tools to contend with them. Many of those issues have been fixed, higher ranks still have more weapons and choices, but at least a newbie can compete and rank up faster. If you have never played COD, or it has been awhile since you owned one, COD MW3 is the one you should purchase.
