Fancy Cardboard Tables

Just bought a refrigerator, stove, or other large product? Don’t know what to do with that huge box? Did you know that cheap, ugly cardboard can be turned into fancy tables for your home? It’s really easy to make cardboard end tables, night stands, and more, just by using cardboard. Let’s get started with the fun!

Cut any top or bottom flaps off of the main box and save them for another project. Open the box by cutting down one side, then lay the cardboard out flat. Cut a piece to be as long as you want for the height of the table.

It can be helpful to fold the cardboard where you need to when you use something like a straight edge on a kitchen table, or something similar. When you fold the cardboard against the edge of the table you can create a nice fold without any trouble. It’s especially easy to make tables with square or rectangular shapes. Create the shape you want then tape the ends together.

You can quickly improve the look of an ordinary cardboard table by painting it. Just choose a color of spray paint to match or coordinate with colors in the room where you’ll be putting the table. Or, glue on decorative paper or cloth to cover the cardboard. You can take the project even further by creating designs on the cardboard. Use a stencil, or draw freehand, to make small squares, circles, triangles, or other designs. Cut them out with a sharp knife then attach colored paper or fabric to the backside. You’ll create little windows that are covered with the design you choose.

A tabletop can be made by taking a piece of cardboard and covering it with cloth or paper. Glue it to the top of the table. Or, set a game board on the top of the table for an unusual but cute look. Other tabletops you can make include a cutting board, a piece of glass, or even a large picture frame.

The cardboard tables make nice end tables, night stands, or even play tables for kids. They’re quick and easy to make and they look much more impressive than you would think. With various choices of paint colors, and the vast number of designs you can cut into the cardboard, plus the assortment of tabletops you could use, there are no limits to the different tables you can craft.
