Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened Today in History?

1775 American Revolutionary War: The Invasion of Canada begins with the Siege of Fort St. Jean

1787 The United States Constitution is signed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

1814 Francis Scott Key finishes his poem “Defence of Fort McHenry”, later to be the lyrics of “The Star-Spangled Banner”.

1908 The Wright Flyer flown by Orville Wright, with Lieutenant Thomas Selfridge as passenger, crashes killing Selfridge. He becomes the first airplane fatality.

1928 The Okeechobee Hurricane strikes southeastern Florida, killing upwards of 2,500 people. It is the third deadliest natural disaster in United States history, behind the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 and the 1906 San Francisco earthquake

1943-1998 Ted Binion was a wealthy U.S. gambling executive and one of the sons of famed Las Vegas casino magnate Lester Ben “Benny” Binion, owner of Binion’s Horseshoe

1959-2000 Paula Yates, British TV personality who died from a Heroin overdose

1924-2006 Patricia Kennedy Lawford was an American socialite and the sixth of nine children of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald, sister to President John F. Kennedy, Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy
