Fall Festivals in Kentucky & Other Kentucky Events

Fall Festivals in Kentucky

Scarecrow Festival & Auction. The Scarecrow Festival & Auction is held each year at the Breech Springs Farm Market at 4776 Old Boonesboro Road in Winchester. Anyone who wants to construct and decorate a scarecrow for the fall event must pay an entry fee of $5 per scarecrow. Some of the scarecrow ideas from past years include whimsical, traditional or even scarecrows decorated like celebrities. There will be winners selected from different categories and age divisions. A list of rules and contest entry forms can be viewed online.

Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival. The Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival is also held in Winchester at College Park. The arts & crafts show at this fall festival is what brings people from all around the area. Crafters can set up booths outdoors and even some spaces are available inside College Park Gym. Some other events scheduled throughout the fall festival include the 5K run/walk and street dance.

Daniel Boone Festival Inc. This Daniel Boone fall festival is a little different than the one listed above as it packed with living history. Volunteers dress for the era and provide plenty of real history for visitors to experience. This fall event is scheduled for the first full week in October and is held in Barboursville. Other events scheduled for the week include a parade, entertainment, music, food, arts and crafts, carnival rides and much more. Examples of concert performances include the Kentucky Headhunters and The Springs. Concerts are free.

Annual Spoonbread Festival. With fall activities like hot air balloon tethered rides, kiddie land, free music and entertainment, hot air balloon glow, tractor show, and of course hot spoonbread all on the list, the annual Spoonbread Festival is one not to be missed. Located in Memorial Park in Berea, the annual fall event comes not only with a list of activities, but with a list of competitive events including a 5K run and 1 mile walk, car show, pageant, dog show, parade, and what would a spoonbread festival be without a spoonbread eating contest? Applications for all contests and booth exhibitors are available online.

Lost River Cave Smoke Writing Tour. A fall event like the Lost River Cave Smoke Writing Tour not only has the usual music and entertainment, but a list of events that are not on any other list in Kentucky, or quite possible the entire United States. What makes this fall event so different? This event is not held in one single area but is scattered to nearby areas to allow for a larger crowd and more activities. Just a few activities on the list include a Confederate encampment, walking tours, living history, spirits of the Civil War Ghost Tour, and to beat it all, Lost River Cave has the only underground boat tour in the entire state of Kentucky! You’ll find this fall event in Bowling Green just off Interstate 65.
