Easy to Make Sewn Paper Coupon Holder

If you coupon and you love to sew, here is the perfect project for you. Recycle newspaper, copy paper, colored paper and any other type of paper you would like into a handy dandy coupon holder. Make individual pockets for just a few coupons or create a multiple of pockets to hold all the coupons you need when you go to the store.

Things You’ll Need:

8 ½-by 14-inch legal copy paper or cut paper to size
Scissors
Sewing machine
Thread

Instructions:

Step 1 – Place the 8 ½-by 14-inch piece of paper on a flat work surface. Measure and fold each edge in ½-inch. Crease the folds firmly.

Step 2 – Position the paper so the long edges are on a vertical axis. Fold the bottom of the paper up and match it with the top. Crease the folds firmly.

Step 3 – Line the edge of the pressure foot up with the edge of the paper. Set the stitch length to the longest length possible. Sew around all four edges. Trim the thread when finished. The largest zigzag stitch works also to hold the layers of paper together.

Step 4 – Fold the bottom up a second time to match the top edge. Crease the folds firmly.

Step 5 – Repeat Steps 1 through 4 to create up to 6 pockets.

Step 6 – Stack the pockets so the top opening of each are facing the same direction.

Step 7 – Line the edge of the pressure foot up with the side edge of the paper. Sew a straight seam along the edge. Repeat the process on the opposite side.

Step 8 – Fold the coupon wallet in half by matching the two short edges. Crease the center fold firmly.

Open the paper coupon holder and slide your coupons into each pocket. Make a taller coupon holder if desired. The important aspect of this holder is to make sure a double layer of paper is at the bottom to help prevent holes from wear.
