In 2008 I auditioned for the reality program “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”. It was one of several auditions I went on that year.
I showed up at an office building for my audition. The office building was located in Studio City, California.
There was a number of people waiting to audition for the show. I went to the audition not knowing what would happen at the audition. It’s not often that I went to audition for reality shows. This was one of a couple of times that I auditioned for a reality program.
I sat in the lobby waiting for my turn. I became more nervous as the time passed. Eventually, I was given a piece of paper.
The piece of paper was a test. A test dealing with song lyrics. It was a test of my knowledge of music lyrics. I thought I would do somewhat well on the test until I began taking the test.
The show is about remembering lyrics to songs, so not doing well on the test did not help me win a spot on the show.
I took the test doubtful about the results. My test was graded. I felt like I were back in school. I did not do well on tests, but I do not do well on tests when I am not able to prepare.
After the auditions I went home knowing they would not be contacting me. I was never called concerning the show. After that audition I decided to not submit for reality programs again.
I was relived, somewhat, that I did not do well. During the audition process I realized that I would not do well on a show about song lyrics. I like listening to music. The problem is I am not at all good at remembering these lyrics.
I was happy not to hear back from the show. The reasons for being on a reality show were not good enough to make me want to be on one to the point that I became upset over not getting on one.
The prizes for reality shows may be large but the process to get on one of those shows is not for me. It was sometime after that audition that I began landing roles. Roles on almost everything but reality. I preferred the audition process for the TV show, commercial and independent movie I landed roles on over the process for reality television.
