Crochet a Romantic Rosebud Headband

In less than half an hour you can crochet this pretty headband with a rosebud accent. By adjusting the length of the headband this accessory can fit both children and adults. You need just scraps of a boucle yarn in two or three colors. If you don’t have any boucle in your yarn stash, ask around to friends; this uses such small amounts of the yarn you may want to avoid the expense of buying an entire skein. Try different color combinations to coordinate this crocheted headband to holiday or wedding use.

Craft Materials

You need scraps of a boucle yarn. Some manufactures produce chunky boucles but you want to look for a finer version of this bumpy yarn. When in doubt about whether or not a yarn will work, remember that you want to create a delicate fashion accessory and not a bulky ear warmer. You can use the same color for the headband and the rosebud or you could use two different colors. You’ll need a bit of green for the leaves.

Use an I-hook. You’ll also need scissors and a tapestry needle.

Ch 6

Row 1: Skip the first st and sc in the next 5 st. Ch 1 and turn

Row 2: Sc across the row

Repeat Row 3 until the headband wraps around the head and under the hair. Because the yarn will stretch a bit, make the headband a couple of rows smaller than you think you need. Fasten off, leaving a tail.

Stitch the last row to the first row with the tail of yarn.
