Couples Restaurants in Murfreesboro, NC for Valentine’s Day

Home to Chowan University, Murfreesboro, North Carolina has begun to grow in recent years. Some restaurants have changed hands while others seemed to spring up overnight. Below you will find a list of restaurants that are great for a couples date.

1. Whitleys BBQ
315 Beechwood Blvd
Murfreesboro, NC 27855
(252) 398-4884

This restaurant has been around for a long time. Last year it was announced that the establishment was under new management, and boy has business boomed! Keep a check on the local paper for specials; last year I ate here for Valentine’s Day on an ‘all two can eat for $30 special’ that included crab legs, home cookin’, and shrimp. Unfortunately I arrived late and all of the seafood had sold out but the rest of the meal was still fantastic and worth the price. You can order menu items or eat from the buffet. Reservations needed only when they have a holiday special.

Food Style: Home cookin’ including Carolina BBQ, fried chicken, banana pudding, some seafood
Don’t Leave Without Trying: The Carolina style sweet tea
Ambiance: Homey, good if you value comfort over romance
Cost Rating: $$, average price you would expect for a couples date

2. Napoli Pizza & Italian Restaurant
331 E Main St
Murfreesboro, NC 27855
(252) 398-3687

Napoli’s, as the locals call it, has also been around for a long time. It is a favorite hangout for locals and college students. If you want that Lady and the Tramp moment, this is where you head to in Murfreesboro. From the casual sub sandwhich or calzone lunch to a more sophisticated shrimp alfredo dinner the menu has many options. Appetizers include things from calamari to cheese sticks. Part of the draw for college students is that you are encouraged to write on the booths and walls. (Or maybe they just don’t DISCOURAGE it?) . No reservations needed.

Food Style: Italian, pasta and pizza
Don’t Leave Without Trying: The Italian super hoagie
Ambiance: Italian eatery with personality
Cost Rating: $$, This depends on what you order. The pasta can get pretty expensive while the pizza or salad bar are average cost. Interesting looking appetizers can also tempt you to spend a little extra

3. Los Amigos
127 W Main St
Murfreesboro, NC 27855
(252) 396-8465

Los Amigos is a more recent business developed in the area. The restaurant is a relative of the restaurant by the same name in nearby Ahoskie, NC. If you like Mexican food you will love this restaurant. They offer typical things like tacos but also more complicated entrees; For example they have Tres Amigos (which consists of squash, peppers, mushrooms, chicken, shrimp, and scallops on a bed of rice with cheese sauce) or a Mexican style steak and fries. You can mix and match menu items to create your own meal or pick from listings of lunch and dinner specials. They also have a good dessert selection, including fried ice cream, churros, and chimis. Upon your arrival the server brings a free appetizer to your table which consist of chips, salsa, and a white sauce dip. No reservations needed.

Food Style: Mexican, some American (chicken fingers, fries, and steak)
Don’t Leave Without Trying: The white sauce dip included with the appetizer
Ambiance: South of the boarder, dimly lit with all the Spanish flair you expect
Cost Rating: $$, This depends on choice of entrée. A taco will only set you back about $2 while a Tres Amigos Special can cost $11.

Being part of a small town, the hours of these eateries can vary by season. Call the restaurant ahead of time to find out if they will be open for your special night out.
