Chicago: As Seen from the Lake

Goodbye Chicago, I’ll be coming back soon,

As I depart this fine day, late in the afternoon.

You stand so proud, looking at you from the lake,

Your skyline looks like a drawing; it almost looks fake.

The wake from our boat shows the path that we took,

Take note quickly, as you may not get a second look.

Along the shore, the skyscrapers stand so very proud,

They all know that in Chicago, slouching is not allowed.

The diamond shaped one is the Smurfit-Stone,

It is to the south of the twin tower look-alike, that stands all alone.

The Sears Tower building holds bragging rights as the tallest,

It stands twice as tall as those around it, which are not the smallest.

The blue of the lake closely matches the blue of the sky,

This has been such a beautiful day, my oh my!

So, goodbye Chicago, departing is what I like least,

As we head back home, on a course that runs southeast.
