Checking for a Russian Scammer with an IP Check

Whatever type of dating you are into you will find internet scammers everywhere, whether it is main stream or niche dating such as Russian brides sites.

The purpose of any Russian dating scam as with any dating scam is to trick the man out of his money, often playing on his emotional side, many men fall in love immediately online with these beautiful women even before meeting with them.

The usual way the Russian scammer operates is the scammer creates a fake profile and posts it on a Russian dating site pretending to be a young sexy Russian girl. The scam will usually start after several weeks communication with the girl and just before you plan to meet, she will say she needs money to come and meet you, or a family member is ill and she needs money to buy them medicine, often the man has by now become very attached and feels it is his duty to help the girl financially even though they have not met in real life yet.

If you want to save yourself a considerable amount of time and trouble here is a reliable test to help you flush out a scammer, although this test will not be 100% inclusive as proof, they will give you a very good idea of who you are communicating with.

The test involves testing for disparities between e-mail addresses. In the first couple of e-mails you exchange with a Russian woman you will notice her e-mail address in the from field. Make note of that e-mail address. Is the Russian women asking you to reply back to her on a different e-mail address? If the e-mail address in the from field is from the dating agency or Russian dating sites then this particular test doesn’t mean much because it just means she is e-mailing you through the dating sites e-mail service to maintain anonymity. This is probably a good sign as it shows you the lady is writing to you through the dating site. She is unlikely to be a scammer.

It is very easy to determine the exact address of the lady who is communicating with you just by a simple check on her IP address. Every email has an identifying IP address where it originates from… In order to view the IP address or where e-mails are coming from you need to enable full header view from your e-mail client. This procedure varies from e-mail client to e-mail client. In Yahoo when you were viewing her message in the extreme lower right-hand corner of the e-mail there will be a link – Full Header – clicking on that link will let you see full headers. In Outlook express click on the menu items File>Options. If you are not sure how to do it from your e-mail client just go to the help section for your e-mail and type in -full headers-.
The message headers may look a bit confusing; they will appear as a line of coding and jumbled up numbers and letters. What you’re looking for is a line which will be about halfway to three quarters of the way down that will look something like this…

Received From: 122.56.233.155

that number or sequence of four numbers separated by periods is the IP address or originating IP address of where the e-mail came from. Copy that sequence of numbers to your clipboard. Go to the website http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/
Paste the IP address into the form and click submit. If the geographic location returned from the check is considerably different to the address the women says she is communicating with you from, then you know you will be dealing with a scammer and should cut off any further contact.

One of the best ways to meet a genuine Russian women is on an established Russian dating site, there are many unscrupulous sites which are often scam sites themselves.

Always use a legitimate Russian dating site such as Bridesandlovers.com, they are head quartered in St Petersburg and are a British Run company.

Best of luck in your russian brides searches.
