The movie stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, a young man who is desperately trying to get into the army only to be rejected several times because of his size. However while visiting an exhibit of future technology with his friend Bucky (Sebastian Stan) he again tries to re-enlist and a scientist by the name of Dr. Erskine (Stanley Tucci) recruits him to be in a super soldier program. Colonel Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) are in charge of the program along with Dr. Erskine.
After Steve gets the super soldier serum he becomes Captain America. The government parades him around the US then the Europe to boost morale and try to get people help with war efforts. While he is at one of the shows he is a part of he disobeys orders and goes behind enemy lines to save some soldiers. Once they get back they send him and the men he rescued on various missions throughout the war to try to stop the Red Skulls nefarious schemes.
This movie is my favorite because of the story, sometimes when superhero stories are adapted to the big screen the story tends to be over shadowed by the action of the movie. In Captain America you become invested in Steve’s story following him from being a little runt no one believes should be in the army to getting Peggy Carter to develop feelings for him. Then after he receives the super soldier serum you get to follow him from being frustrated at being no more than an attraction at a side show to a man the country comes to rely on.
The action in the movie is also good though at times is abbreviated to progress the story along. Which I believe is good or we would have had a 4 hour Captain America movie. This movie got me excited to see The Avengers which comes out early next year and if this movie is any indication s to how good that movie will be I for see The Avengers being the top movie of 2012.
