Not too thick and not too thin, this soup contains good sized pieces of chicken, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, celery and corn swimming in a savory chicken stock.

A considerable amount of white and wild rice is also present in this soup. In this reviewer’s humble opinion, the two types of rice add a desireable sense of ballast to the soup, making it fairly thick and enjoyable to eat. The overall mouth feel offered by this soup is quite nice.

Taste / Flavor
So far, I have eaten Campbell’s Chunky Savory Chicken Soup only once and for the most part I really enjoy its flavor. The pieces of white meat chicken are moist and actually taste like real chicken meat. The vegetable pieces taste nice and fresh and the white and wild rice add another appealing dimension of flavor to the soup.

The chicken stock broth in this variety of Chunky Soup is pleasant tasting, but to me, it doesn’t necessarily taste very ‘savory’. After reading the list of ingredients in this soup, I learned that it contains a small amount of sauterne wine, ‘flavor’, ‘spice’, chicken fat and monosodium glutamate (MSG), but I didn’t see any ingredients that would lend a savory flavor to the mix.

While I do like the flavor of this soup, I think it could benefit from the infusion of some more spices and / or spicier ingredients, if it is to be named a ‘savory’ soup. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 8.50.
