Buddy

I didn’t know the first thing about caring for a Pray Mantis, however, I learned as I went. Sadly though, I discovered that Pray Mantis’ don’t have a long life span, a year at most and mine didn’t live very long because she was already full grown.

I named the Pray Mantis “Buddy” and at first she would fly around the kitchen and latch onto the cereal boxes, then after the first night she stayed in my kitchen window and seemed to be content. (I hope anyway).

Now feeding her wasn’t a problem during the end of summer, I’d catch flies on a daily basis almost, yet I knew that when winter set in finding a common house fly would prove difficult. I sprayed the window with a mist of water every day. (This way Buddy wouldn’t drowned in a bottle cap of water). At first, Buddy didn’t like millers. Yet, I she ate one the last day she was alive.

After that, I gave her a proper burial in my garden where I had first discovered her. Pray Mantis’ are interesting to keep as pets, however, they are so delicate that its hard to see them sometimes.
