Autumn is Triumphant

Cool crisp air laughs at summer
And promises that winter is on the way
Leaves drop from the trees
Twisting, turning, spinning and falling
Or are they just dancing?
Brilliant hues of copper, gold, and burning fire
Crunching underfoot
As little ghosts and goblins look for treats
“Winter is coming, winter is coming” the trees sing
But not just yet
There are pumpkins and hayrides to be had
Before the layer of leaves becomes a layer of snow
There will be apple cider and candied apples
Before this season gives way to sleigh rides and snowmen
There will be turkey and pumpkin pie
There is much beauty in this season
It’s the time of schooldays and jumping in leaves
So look around you, take it in
For winter will come and bring it all to an end
But now, just for now
Autumn is triumphant
