A Fallen Leaf

One fallen leaf floating down
between the earth and heaven’s ground
too old to cling, too young to die

crumples slowly, as it sighs
beneath the morning misty dew
burnt blood orange and crimson hue
blazing glory marching past
wise and wrinkled fading fast
little buds don’t see it coming.
