What’s the strongest OTC painkiller I can buy?
Q: The balls of my feet hurt extremely badly all the time due to ballroom dancing 9 hours a day. I’m getting new shoes soon, but until then I’m stuck in agony. I use ice/heat therapy, epsom salts, everything, but it’s not even dulling the pain.Is there anything I can get over the counter at like a Walgreens store that might be a little stronger than Motrin? Thanks!
A: You can safely take Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen together, but take both at the minimum dosage (usually 1 pill of each), and wait the longer dosage time (if one is every 4 hours and the other is every 6, take both every 6). My doctor recommended this for severe pain. DON’T do this for more than a few days without seeing a doctor. However, it is safe to do this for a few days, because the two drugs work by different mechanisms and don’t interact. Don’t mix other pain medications without consulting a doctor!
What is the strongest OTC painkiller for headaches/migraines?
Q:
A: The best thing you can use, and take it from someone who gets migraine headaches frequently, is Excedrin Migraine. Take it at the onset of any discomfort, when you feel a migraine coming on. You can also use a higher dosage of ibuprofen (Motrin) 600 mg – 800 mg. However, you should see a doctor to have your headaches examined to be sure that they are migraine headaches, and not a result of something else. There are tension and stress headaches, sinus headaches, chemical dependence (caffeine or sugar headaches), cluster headaches, and then of course pressure caused by abnormal occurrences in the brain can cause ‘headache’ feelings (tumors, aneurysm, etc.). Another good suggestion is to put an ice bag or ice pack on the area where the pain seems to be coming from (the neck, the eyes, the temples, the crown, etc.) to help constrict the blood vessels. Sometimes, a good strong cup of coffee (drink it black) can help to be a quick solution.
Strongest painkiller, OTC?
Q: Hi guys. I had my wisdom teeth out on Friday & he prescribed me Darvocet which worked magic, clearly. It runs out today and I’m still in a lot of pain, I was wondering what you used when you had your wisdom teeth out that is OTC & helped with the pain? I tried ibuprofen but it didn’t really help at all. Thanks!!
A: what you got is great for pain.. but as in otc. i would recommend advil liquid gels. i think if you take just one more pill then recommended you will get good results and you should be fine.. my brother once was taking 4-5 pills in a 6 hour period interval . for strep throat and swollen tonsils.. but thats a little too much .. 2-3 pills every 6 hours should help you .. don’t over do it .. pain meds have been known to be potentially dangerous for the liver and may damage it if you overdo them. take care and god bless
