Q: I’ve been on birth control for about 4 years now. It has always regulated my period and my period has NEVER been unpredictable. I’m only a week into my new pack of pills and I have vaginal bleeding. A: If you took your pill on time each day for the last pill pack and the current one and didn’t miss any pills, very unlikely you are pregnant/miscarried, etc. It could be breakthrough bleeding. Did you take any antibiotics or herbal medicines that would lessen the effectiveness of the b.c. pill? Anything that results in you getting a lower dose of hormones can cause you to bleed. Anyway, the doctor can advise you about things and help you figure out what’s going on.
