What is the best OTC pain killer to take for a toothache?
Q:
A: not recomended for a long period of time but 600mg of motrin. but only take this 2 times daily. Any more than that will cause liver damage. a total of 1200mg daily is the max legal dose. You have to hit the toothache hard with anti-inflamitories to keep it from hurting. it is not the tooth that is hurting…it is the gums are infected or inflamed. But see a dentist soon as possible because if it is infected it can spread and cause alot more damage. In same cases, the infection can reach the brain since your jaw is so close to the brain. A toothache can be a serious matter. I have had very bad experiences with origel (sp) if you dont get it right on the spot it is hurting…the pain will intensify 100 times like your mouth on fire. I dont know why this is.
