Could DXM be safely used with antidepressants?

DXM by itself could cause some serious problems, but I guess that you already know that. Now, I would advise you not to get too excited about mixing DXM with something else. If DXM is already not that safe, what do you think might happen …

It’s the same reason they don’t typically use dissociatives for anything in humans. A lot of people don’t like them. But even if most people didn’t have a problem with dissociation, daily use is where most users get into trouble. Granted,…

Does weekly Dxm use cause brain damage and is it bad for you?
Q: is taking a moderate dose of dxm about once or twice a week dangerous? if so, what will be the effects?
A: Actually, contrary to what most people will say, I think [depending on your health] that it IS, in fact, relatively safe to do even more than that.I say this from personal experience. There was a period in time, throughout the long amount of time that i’ve been doing DXM [and I mean a LONG time] that I was doing 300-900mg doses for weeks straight at a time. Once I did this for 3 weeks straight, and after I got done, my brain felt like mushy cheese, but the main negative effect I experienced from this was a near complete loss of short term memory. However, this went away after doing no DXM for about 4 days, and I started doing it again after that. That was about 3 months ago, and I, to this day, do dxm for entire weekends at a time, and I still feel quite mentally sound, lol.So really, I think it depends a lot on your current health…And if you do DXM for extended amounts of time, or repeatedly, just use the signals your body gives you. If you feel like you shouldn’t do it because you’ve already done too much in too short a period of time, then don’t.Hope I helped ^_^
Anyone else have permanent muscle twitching/spasms from long term DXM use?
Q: I took DXM basically every day or every other day for about a year or so. I have stopped completely and it has been two and a half years, however, I am having muscle twitches and spasms all the time. When I am sitting still for example, my leg will kick or my arm will spasm or my fingers will twitch. It’s not really so obvious that everyone else can see it, but I know I am doing it and it is very annoying and I worry I have permanent damage from the year of DXM use. Please, if anyone else made the mistake of using DXM (I used Coricidin tablets, I know, really bad form of DXM), let me know how you are doing now after a while of not using, even if it isn’t muscle twitching. Please, any info would be appreciated as I am worried. I’ve been to a neurologist and he basically didn’t seem worried and just told me “some people twitch.” Whatever! I wasn’t like this before the use! Anyway, what do you guys and girls think?
A: DXM is in a vast amount of products, most that are abused for achieving a high. The adverse side affects of abusing these substances over a long period of time is similar to “tremors” aka twitching. Coricidin and similar DXM containing products basically when abused or used in large quantities will have the same affects on the brain as Acid. Basically brain damage. The drug resistant programs in school weren’t kidding either. You might want to request a CAT scan or MRI from your Neurologists, also i would advise that you come clean with your addiction. This will help the doctor with forseeing a problem. By determining a problem you might spare yourself from something i suffer from daily. That is Grand Mal seizures. I was born with mine ailment and have to take a ton of meds to just take the edge off. There are no meds currently available to control my seizures either. I would suggest that upon reading this you contact the Neurologists immediately!
dxm? very potent for depression?
Q: I find dxm helps bring me out of a dark place I am in. I am not a person to be social, i have no feelings, its like i’ve died emotionally inside. I felt good one time but it seems that time is fading away to the point I can’t even remember.I tried Dxm the other week and it was alright. I’m not talking about the buzz it gives but the after effects it gives. I get this weird feeling for a few days following my dxm trip. It’s hard to explain but it makes me feel emotions and empathy. Some people say it makes them cry or feel sad after use but it does something different for me. I have read its an nmda receptor antagonist which could be the reason it works. It removes all my negative memories, makes me want to be around people. Like the day after I used dxm I was home alone as usual and I had this feeling as if I HAD to go out and be with other people. I couldnt stand to be alone. This may be bad to some but to me it brought back feelings of want in my life and to want to be around people. I have been on ssri’s and they are nothing like dxm. dxm might affect serotonin as do ssri’s but its not the same method not even close. dxm – its almost like it resets my depression. I feel as if im in a hole and now i cant see out of and dxm seems to lift me out of that hole and be normal….actually more normal than i have ever felt. I want to be around people and i am feeling emotions again. i am less irritable (not a bit actually) and want to live life. Thank god. This all starts to fade away tho after aboout 8-9 days after the trip and i feel the depression or whatever the hell IT IS coming back and bringing me down. All this info stated is not for the dxm trip but all what happens in the following days after. Its a very nice after glow …brings on emotions again . Can anyone relate to this or does anyone know why. god why cant they make an antidepressant like this which works 🙁
A: Is there a question here? Yes, DXM is recognized as an antidepressant, though the reason for this is disputed. But that’s not the only explanation. Dissociation and new experiences in general sometimes have a rebooting effect. The first time I did LSD (four hits), I had a mood lift for months. And funnily enough, my first experience with DXM (354mg) gave me a mood lift for about two weeks. That said, drugs aren’t the answer you’re looking for. Your best shot is to find a life you want to live. But that’s not to say you shouldn’t experiment or that drugs can’t be part of a solution. Most people should be fine with daily DXM use with low doses (around 3mg/kg). But daily use is where almost all of the problem cases are found and that’s where brain damage would be most likely (presumably with much higher doses).I would recommend getting to know DXM better to find out what it is that helps you and go from there:http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/faq/dxm_experience.shtml
