All the pregnancy symptoms, but only Negative tests? What do i do?
Q: I stopped taking my birth control pill in February because hubby and i decided to start trying to conceive. I have been experiencing all sorts of symptoms (sore breasts(which i NEVER got before), frequent urination, excessive fatigue, breast growing to 1-2 cup sizes larger than normal, etc)In march my period came and it was really light, and only lasted 1.5 days. generally while on the pill they last 3-5 day, back before i started the pill they were 8-10 days so these are VERY unusual for me.I have taken at least half a dozen tests (different brands, different sensitivities, all first thing in the morning) i went to the local health fair mid-april and got a full blood work up and pap to make sure i wasn’t sick/having thyroid issues/cysts, etc.In april my period was again 1.5 closer to just 1 days long. My test results all came back healthy and normal. The OB that gave the pap said if i’m less than 8-10 weeks it was too early for him to feel anything in my uterus and be able to confirm.I’ve read that sometimes stopping the pill after being on it long term can cause mild pregnancy symptoms but they usually stop after 3-5 weeksi’ve read (and know family members that have experienced) being pregnant and still having bleeding when you would normally have your cycle and/or not being able to get a positive test.I don’t have insurance, so i’m afraid to go in and rack up a huge bill getting a blood pregnancy test and ultra sound, but don’t know what else to do at this point?Any suggestions, similar experiences, etc? Anyone know a really affordable but good OB that would be able to test/ultrasound? etc? Thanks in advance!!oh, and another weird thing….while showering i noticed that when i went to clean my navel (belly button) it has shrunk? and oddly enough if i press down (towards feet/legs) it feels like i’m pressing on something hard inside, not soft/squishy like when i push up or to either side?
A: I had similar things with my first baby – no blood test would show positive nor any urine tests. After weeks at doctors/Specialist i asked for a ultrasound – it turned out i was 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant !! I gave birth to a early but very healthy little girl. Shes now 1 years old, and im faced with the same issues and am off for a ultrasound today ! I think you need to ask your doctor for a ultra sound ! Good luck and id be grateful to know your out come !
My symptoms.. What do you think?
Q: Headaches everyday(mild to severe) nausea, a “cloudiness” feeling in my head, last week my hands went numb, I pee a lot but that’s something I’ve always done, dull throbing pain in my uterus/ovary area, dizzyness, extreme fatigue, hot flashes, my breasts are tender and a tiny bit fuller than usual. Hungry all the time. Have to have sugar or I get depressed and I CRAVE sugar (since I was in HS). Tested for pregnancy, negative which I thought (last month I had sex and took Plan B the day of and 12 hrs later for the second and I had my period for this month) I’m being tested for diabetes and having my thyroid checked but waiting on the results. I have a feeling both will come back as normal. I don’t know what’s going on with me:( I’m only 23!I forgot to add that when the “cloudiness” is in my head, I have a hard time with my speech and can’t think of words and my sentences are jumbled. Also… Despite being very tired all day, I can’t sleep till after 3 am everyday. If I go to sleep earlier, I wake up every 2 hrs usually. I’ve had night sweats even though the cooler is on, I’m more irritable than usual. I’m tired of this…:,(I do drink a lot of water throughout the day. I keep thinking if I just drink water then my headaches will go away. Never works but I still drink a lot of water. So I’m not dehydrated. I don’t have panic attacks when I don’t have sugary food/drinks, I get irritable and just depressed. I eat throughout the day, small snacks at work and eat dinner at home.
A: I had a lot of the same symptoms and was hungry all the time like you, had trouble concentrating, trouble sleeping, dizzy spells and fatigue. I also peed a lot, but I drink lots of water. No tender breasts or throbbing ovaries but that’s probably because I’m a guy. I was scared it was diabetes but was tested and it wasn’t, The doc told me I might have mild hypoglycemia and to eat more often and when I do, to eat more protein & fat (less sugar and carbs). I cut out the sugar (I know its hard when you are craving it but I did it) and eat 6 meals a day, though they are smaller than before. I try and always have a nice sized protein (chicken breast, lunch meat, etc.) and fat (like cheese, almonds, etc.) with each meal and a small portion of carbs in the form of vegetables and fruits. I can’t say I’m always perfect, I just had some cake for my B-day the other day, but I stick to it more often than not. I’ve noticed really big differences in concentration levels, energy levels, depression all on the positive side. I don’t get the dizzy spells and feel pretty much fine throughout the entire day. There is one diet that makes it easier, called the zone diet where you block up your carbs/protein/fats. It’s not like Atkins where you just stop eating carbs and sugar completely, but you just regulate the ratio of carb/protein/fat to what your body needs. It’s really nothing radical, it just gives you an easy way to think about eating a balanced meal. I’d give it a try, it’s worked wonders for me and I had many of the symptoms you describe.I also started working out which helps a lot with sleeping, getting an hour in at the gym every 3 days, I am sleeping more soundly than I have in many years. I think getting a good night’s sleep has also helped with the other issues as well (and eating a good diet helps to get a good night’s sleep). At your age I would be surprised if it’s anything serious that your Doc wouldn’t catch. I’d try getting some exercise, cut out the sugar and caffeine and eat well balanced meals for a week or two and see how you feel.
Is there any other way to find out if you have blocked fallopian tubes?
Q: Is there any other way to find out if your tubes are blocked instead of doing an HSG test? Or any symptoms that indicate blocked tubes?Just a lil background about me:I don’t know if I have blocked tubes. I’ve been tested for thyroids, pcos, etc…..my doc said everything is fine. She’s even checked my uterus, uterus lining, ovaries, etc. I am 25 and generally get my period every month. The only month I have a weird or late period is when I’m travelling…..I haven’t ovulated this month (confirmed by blood test) and I really think I didn’t ovulate last month either….have been ttc for 5 months now…just thinking of what other things can prevent a woman (me) from getting pregnant……Maybe I’m just reading too much online and thats whats probably getting me worried…..What else should my doctor/I test for? I mean I’m still not pregnant…I’d like to find the problem now rather than ttc for another year or so and later finding out the problem……..But any symptoms prior to hsg that would say that tubes are blocked? like pain during ovulation, etc?
A: You’ve only been trying for 5 months? That’s not very long. Even when everything is perfectly normal for both the woman and the man, and you have sex at the right time, you still only have about a 20 – 25% chance of getting pregnant. So unless you know you have a fertility problem, I really wouldn’t worry about it yet. 5 months without getting pregnant does not mean there’s a problem.Has your partner been tested? I would think you’d want him tested before you start going through all sorts of tests and procedures. That’s what my fertility doctor had my husband and I do – she had me get an HSG and my husband have his sperm tested. Turns out everything’s normal on both sides, except I need clomid to ovulate (I have PCOS). Yet we’ve been ttc for 16 months, and I’ve only gotten pregnant once (but I miscarried at 7 weeks).
