Q: 26 weeks pregnant, feel like i have developed a cold, pain in lower back on the right side that travels from lower back, to buttock, to hip, had it for 2 days now and it still hasnt went away and it hurts when i touch it.Feeling of nausea, and pain in lower right side of stomach (mild) but noticeablefrequent urinationfeeling to poop but no poopno pain of left side what so everbaby kicking normally (like crazy)IS THIS PRE-TERM LABOR? please help me, i will go right to the doctor today anyway, i just need some answers
A: At first glance my thought was sciatica - where the baby is sitting on a nerve and it affects the hip, buttocks, lower back, down to the leg -very common. But the other feelings you are having don't seem to go with that - although they could just be pregnancy symptoms.Do you have a fever? I would go to the doctor anyway in case you have an infection.
Could this be signs of Pre-term labor?
Q: I am just entering my 34th week. Yesterday afternoon, I came home with my 22 month-old and we were playing outside for a while. During that time I started to feel more frequent (what I thought were BH) contractions. My back started to really hurt as well. Later I started to feel a little nausea and every BM I have had since then has been loose, but I wouldn't classify it as diarrhea (sorry TMI). It continued the rest of the evening - i was drinking water but I didn't get a chance to relax until almost bedtime. Today I felt a bit better, the contractions were fewer but my back has still been in good amount of pain. Called my doctor's office this morning and one of the on-call midwives called back. I explained everything and she didn't seem concerned at all. She told me to take some tylenol and keep track of the contractions. She said she doesn't get worried unless they are every 10 minutes. This past hour I had 5...so that works out to every 12...No bloody show or anything.I had my first child two weeks early under normal circumstances - What do you think? Please, don't be crude. Pre-term labor is nothing to joke about.
A: I went through the same thing several weeks ago and even now from time to time. Your doctor said the same thing my doctor said. If they aren't coming consistently and have some sort of pattern then there is nothing to worry about. She also told me to lay down on my left side and take some Tylenol. What happens is that we get to busy and over exhaust ourselves and it takes it's toll on our pregnant bodies. (I have a 2 year old as well) I even went an hour having contractions every 7 minutes and then they just stopped and didn't come back for a few hours. But she said it didn't really mean much. I'm 37 weeks now.
Pre-term labor signs? [20 characters]?
Q: For women who have had a baby born premature I was wondering what some of the signs/symptoms were. I'm almost 27 weeks and I *think* I lost my mucus plug today, which from my understanding doesn't mean a whole lot. I also think I'm experiencing braxton hicks, which again, doesn't mean a whole lot. But I was just wondering what some of the signs were for premature labor? Thanks!
A: This past April, I went into preterm labor at 26 weeks. I was in the hospital for at least 6 weeks. Before being admitted to the hospital, I had the following symptoms: lower back pain, cramping similar to menstrual cramps, and diarrhea. I didn't lose my mucus plug, but my cervix had shortened and thinned to 1cm. Please call your healthcare provider in order to make sure everything is OK. That's what saved me and my baby by being proactive. I have been able to stay pregnant for an extra 10 weeks with a very short cervical length because I contacted my doc in the right amount of time. GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING!
