Could this be signs of Pre-term labor?
Q: I am just entering my 34th week. Yesterday afternoon, I came home with my 22 month-old and we were playing outside for a while. During that time I started to feel more frequent (what I thought were BH) contractions. My back started to really hurt as well. Later I started to feel a little nausea and every BM I have had since then has been loose, but I wouldn't classify it as diarrhea (sorry TMI). It continued the rest of the evening - i was drinking water but I didn't get a chance to relax until almost bedtime. Today I felt a bit better, the contractions were fewer but my back has still been in good amount of pain. Called my doctor's office this morning and one of the on-call midwives called back. I explained everything and she didn't seem concerned at all. She told me to take some tylenol and keep track of the contractions. She said she doesn't get worried unless they are every 10 minutes. This past hour I had 5...so that works out to every 12...No bloody show or anything.I had my first child two weeks early under normal circumstances - What do you think? Please, don't be crude. Pre-term labor is nothing to joke about.
A: I went through the same thing several weeks ago and even now from time to time. Your doctor said the same thing my doctor said. If they aren't coming consistently and have some sort of pattern then there is nothing to worry about. She also told me to lay down on my left side and take some Tylenol. What happens is that we get to busy and over exhaust ourselves and it takes it's toll on our pregnant bodies. (I have a 2 year old as well) I even went an hour having contractions every 7 minutes and then they just stopped and didn't come back for a few hours. But she said it didn't really mean much. I'm 37 weeks now.
What are the chances of me being in labor?
Q: (Thought I'd give this question one more shot....I sent it during the late hours before.)This may be a little long but please help me to understand. I am pregnant with #3. My first two pregnancies were picture perfect and both of them were induced. This one has been picture perfect until a sudden onset of braxton hicks. At 31 weeks, when I went in I was 80% effaced but my cervix was closed.I was given the test to at that point to see if I was in pre-term labor and it came back negative.Later that week, I lost the infamous plug and was put on complete bed rest. Things calmed down some for a while but have started up again.I am now 33.4 weeks pregnant and for the past three days have anywhere from 4 -10 BH per hour from 1 - 3 hours in a row and then it just stops. Last night they lasted throughout the night and into the morning before slowing down. The intensity does not change...it does not hurt and I do not feel any different than I have from the beginning of this process. My doc. said to continue the bed rest and he will see me in two days rather than waiting until next week.I'm just curious if one can actually be in labor without the intensity changing?...or what my chances are at this point for going into pre-term labor. (I have no warning signs and do not participate in any of the things that would cause it....so if it happened, I'd be one of those cases where they don't know the reasons.)I hope this makes sense....I'm just curious...not stressed but want to stay informed. Thanks for your help.Additional DetailsAmazingly, I only felt one contraction between my first two pregnancies before the glorious epidural. With both of them, I didn't receive the epidural until reaching 4 cm....that's why it makes me a little nervous not knowing whether they are just BH or other....so if you have the "menstrual cramps feeling" but it last for 5 minutes or so and then disappears....is that considered a contraction?
A: You may go into pre-term labor if you dont follow your bed rest instructions. However, the contractions should intensify for you to be in serious labor. I've had braxton hicks since 28 weeks, thought I have not dilated or effaced. Just be safe and follow doctors orders. Its too soon to deliver your little one. I've also had the mestrual cramping (in the stomache and back) but no signs of labor yet. Thats just the body preparing so I've been told.
35-36 weeks preg symptoms-- help?
Q: hi im 35-36 weeks preg. with my first & the past 3 or 4 days i have been having really bad sharp back pains, headaches & sharp jolting pains very low in my pelvic area--the pelvic pains are nothing constant or consistant but ive also had loose stool for about a week & half now.. around 28 weeks i had these bad back pains & it was a UTI so i dont konw if maybe thats what it is but this time i just have more symptoms along with the back pains so i was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what this is... the dr say im at a higher risk for preterm labor/toxiema because my mom had toxiema bad and delievered both my brother & i 6 weeks early but last week they said there were no signs right now to make them feel i would be early but you never know..as ready as i am to have this baby i dont believe i am having signs of pre term labor i just am wondering if all this is normal...thanks!
A: Something my doctor asks me all the time is if i have headaches... i dont think thats normal, maybe an occasional headache here n there but constant ones doesnt seem normal, i think thats a sign of preeclampsia. I would really point out those headaches to him. The sharp pains, i would get em too and he said its normal due to baby weight, sore muscles, etc.
