Q: Hi everyone,First off, don’t bother answering this if you’re going to make rude comments, snide remarks, or have any sort if dig at me. All I want is an answer to my questions, not anything else!* Note: Probably contains too much info for some. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it came out “not pregnant.”The thing is, the first day of my last period was the 28th Dec, I started back on my pill on 2nd Jan, however, I didn’t take anymore until the 8th Jan, on the 9th (to specific early hours friday morning) I had unprotected sex (more than once). I continued to take my pill up until the 16th Jan. Well yesterday (19th) I started bleeding, when I went to the toilet and wiped it was light pink, so I wiped again and the same thing, I sat about a minute and when I wiped for a third time the blood was really deep red, if not nearly black, and there was quite a bit, I suppose, but not loads. I’m still bleeding and have been through two “regular tampons” (the first was the most bloody but no more than my normal period and the second was still moist but dark red/black/brown and more like I am 4 or 5days after starting), one “light” which had barely anything on it bar a 1/2cm strip of light pink/orange/red blood and another “regular tampon” with pretty much the same more or less. That’s all from yesterday to today…so far. I’m 5days early though if it is my period…Is it just break-through bleeding because of coming on/off my pills? Is it an actual period?Have I miscarried?Could I still be pregnant? (I would be 23days gone)Thanks to anyone that can help/answers.I’m on Microgynon 30.I haven’t got any pain.To be honest, I’m gutted that I’m probably not pregnant, maybe that’s stupid to other people but I don’t care, that how I feel.Should I bother doing another test next week?
A: Hi there,1st answer – Not taking the pill properly CAN mess your periods up.2nd answer – It could be a period – i guess all you can do is wait and see how long it lasts for. Sometimes we have an irregular/ late / early period for no reason at all.3rd answer – I doubt you have miscarried this early. It would just be like a normal period anyway.4th answer – The bleeding you are experiencing could be due to an ‘implantation bleed’. This is where the fertilised egg burrows itself into the lining of the womb and you have a slight bleed due to this. (Please note this bleed is not harmful if you are pregnant).Personally, i would wait til a few days after your period would normally be due and then take a test. If this bleed was an ‘implantation bleed’ then it should show as positive. If it isn’t and you are still worried then i would speak to your doctor.Do remember though that the pill can mess up your periods for a while but then they should eventually settle down. This is most likely the case!Hope this helps!EDIT:- Even if you were pregnant now it would be too early for it to show up as positive on a pg test as the hormones would be too low.
