i have some questions, i need answers please?
Q: okay. now first of all i’m 16 years old. i’m on the smaller side, 5’2″ 105 pounds. i’ve recently gained weight over the summer(i’ve been very careful of what i eat ever since 6th grade, i weighed about 97 pounds until this summer,my boyfriend begged me to gain weight. Lol.)i have smaller breasts. (32A.), but when i put on weight this summer my breasts grew, not much-not even a whole size or anything. But i can tell their a LITTLE bit bigger. i’ve never noticed it before, but i can see a faint blue vein right beside my nipple..i mean..it could have been there, but i never really paid attention. My question is, is it normal? My breasts ache sometimes, off an on. They feel like growing pains, but i’m not sure..i thought i was done with puberty. Also, my nipple is like..the size of a quarter! and their kind of pointy? (embarrassing..) Is this normal? The last time i had sex it was July 13. (2 days after i ended my period.) My boyfriend and i always use a condom, and we don’t even do it that much. In fact, i’m pretty sure that was the first time he ever got off.I then had my period august 6-9. Well, i think it was my period..How do i tell if it was my period or vaginal bleeding? I had cramps, cravings, tiredness,… (typical PMS symptoms for me) It was a regular flow for me, not heavier or lighter than usual. But it only lasted 3 days? My period usually lasts 4.. Was it vaginal bleeding or my period?Thats when my breasts started to ache.. Do they still ache because their (finally) growing? Is it my hormones? (oh also, my period isn’t completely regular..i get it every 22-30 days…it will come around the same time for like 2 months..then switch on me.)Should i be worried that i’m pregnant? I’ve taken several early-predicting hpts, (first response, & ept.) I took them after my August 6-9 period. All were negative.(there was 37 days between my last negative test and when i had sex.Approximatley 29 days between last negative test & possible conception.)oh, and is it normal to have light, crampy feelings around ovulation?I’m sorry, i know this is long.. I usually talk to my sister about this stuff but shes away at college..& its hard to talk about this stuff on the phone?I don’t know, i’m sorry..its very long . I would really appriciate the help though.Thank you in advance!
A: Some young women can still be going through puberity until they are 18 or 19, so this could explain the breast growth, plus breasts are fatty, so some people gain or lose weight there first. The blue vein is normal, the paler you are the more noticable they usually are. We all have them. It sounds like you had erect nipples, some people get them from the cold, sexual arousal, or for no reason at all. This is normal. If it’s causing you embarassment, get some new bras with some padding. Try them on in the store to see if it hides the problem.Periods can last 3 to 8 days. Some women have highly irregular periods tha fluctate significatly and there isn’t always a medical problem behind it. I had this problem until I went on the pill which regulated everything for me. The same with PMS, can fluctuate and sometimes be worse than other times. Try some Pamprin or Midol, this sometimes helps. If there’s a clinic in your area for planned parenthood or anything, go there and see if they can give you a pregnancy test. Some places offer these free to teens. They may also be able to explain to you the stuff regarding your period and your aches and pains. Most cities have these, and your parents don’t necessarily have to know.It sounds like you are okay, just going through growing pains of becoming a fully mature woman. Also, if you’ve taken several pregnancy tests and they are negative, most likely your not pregnant. It would be unusal for several tests to report negative. But get yourself checked if your not sure.

A: its normal for breasts to ache around the time of your period. im pretty sure you are not pregnant, just make sure to get on birth control and use a condom. if youve taken that many pregnancy tests, i wouldn’t worry about it. also, periods can last from as little as three days to 7 or 8 days. it depends. and breast growth doesnt really have to do with puberty. you usually keep growing in height for two years after you get your period, and your breasts can continue to change and grow until your 20’s.

A: Haha…to start off… you are never done with puberty until you are fully developed. To answer your first question, breasts are as different as the people you see around you. Yours are perfectly normal. The fact that they are “pointy” and the size of a quarter should not concern you at all. They will grow and get bigger but seeing as how you are 16 now, they wont grow much more over the next couple of years. Expect some growth to come either way. Some problems you should look for are lumps and leaking (though not all breast leakage is bad). Breasts ache because of your cycle or period starting, hormones, growth and developement, and other reasons…yours is most likely period or hormones. For your 2nd concern about your period…How long has your period been on? Or when did you start? If you are just starting then don’t expect your period to last long. If you are a ‘veteran’ and your period usually lasts more than 3 days then the 3 day ‘period’ you experienced you may be spotting between actual periods. This is nothing to be alarmed about if you are a ‘period rookie’ (i know that’s lame) but you should still visit the doctor to be sure. The light crampy feelings you get are normal…an egg is being ovulated so you might feel some discomfort. As for your last concern, I know this is tough but like I say to the rest of my friends, the only sure-fire way to know that you aren’t pregnant is to abstain from sex. Whether you and your boyfriend do it alot or a little, you could still get pregnant from just 1 time. Condom or no condom. If you know that you are responsible, which I believe you are since you are voicing a concern, then you practiced safe-sex correctly. Safe-sex is only safe when you do it correctly. Reassure yourself every time that you are safe. If the tests are coming up negative, especially if it is a result from a top of the line indicator like EPT, then i would ease my worries for the moment. Most of your concerns sound like nothing but hormones. I would still visit a doctor to be safe and sure.I hope all of my rambling helped 🙂
