Q: i just saw a question about this asking if she is going to have a miscarriage. how would you know if your going to?and what exactly is that? isnt it when you suddenly just stop being pregnant during like the first month or something?
A: miscarriage is a sudden stop in the fetus’s progress and then the resulting ridding of the fetus and placenta through cramping and bleeding that is much heavier than a period. One way to know that you are going to miscarry is by having your HCG levels tested and then notings that they are falling instead of rising, or seeing that levels are way to low for how far along you are. A miscarriage can occur later than the first month mostly they occur in the first trimester. If it is in the second or third trimester then it will end in a still birth (actual delivery of the fetus.) Most women have no idea they are going to miscarry. With out the warning cramps or low HCG there is really no real way of knowing. The important thing to note is that many miscarriages are not caused by anything the pregnant woman has done, nor was there anything that could have stopped it.

Q: We have been trying for a baby for 4 years now. 2 years ago we had an ectopic pregnancy and went on the list for IVF.We were due to start IVF on 3rd May when I found out last week that I was 5 weeks pregnant but miscarrying. Been very upset about it all. Anyway, I have one friend who hasn’t even mentioned anything to me – no ‘sorry’ or ‘how are you’? I know she knows as my partner told her partner. So should I bring it up? I was very hurt when she contacted me just to ask if I was still going to the gym?! I don’t know if my hormones are making me irrational so I don’t want to give her a piece of my mind only to regret it in a few weeks but right now I hate her for her lack of support. What would you do???
A: I would be hurt and angry if I was in your situation and would probably want to give her a piece or 2 of my mind; however you have enough to deal with right now so concentrate on your own feelings. Then again maybe she doesn’t know what to say..some people don’t.
How do you know if you have a miscarriage-what are you suppose to do after you have miscarried?
Q: I am exactly 9 wks and last week i started bleeding. The bleeding is just as if I’m in my period and has been going on for 3 days. Could this be a sign of a miscarriage? How do i know if i have one?
A: This could be a miscarrage BUT the best way to find out is to see a doctor. Also watch for abdominal pain(worse than a period),vomitting, fever, nausea. This could also be what is called Implantation , that’s when the embryo is implanting itself onto your uterus. Best way again, is to check w/ your OB/GYN.
