how can you tell when you have gone through the menopause?
Q: I have not had a period in over 12 months – although I do not feel the cold and get warm when I am in bed I have not yet had the sense of being over powered by heat – was wondering if that was something to look forward to..
A: You do not say how old you are but my guess if asking about menopause must be around this age. It sounds like you have come to menopause periods stopping for this length of time is good indication. Not all women suffer menopausal symptoms some just sail through no hot flushes/cold/low mood swings ect My mom finished at 43 my sister 42 however my sister has to take tablets due to hormones being none existent to protect her against arthritis.I however not so lucky so if you are this age over 50 and have finished periods just thank god you have sailed through if younger may be worth going to doctor for blood test which will confirm this
Can anyone tell me how you felt when you were going through menopause? I know hot flashes are normal but can?
Q: you feel dizzy too? I am a lot more anxious than I ever was before?
A: Sweats and anxious. Never dizzy. Headaches. I did take estrogen which helped with the permanent PMS. It was that or I would have seriously wounded my poor loving husband. It is terrible what we turn into.
Helping mom through menopause?
Q: About a month ago my mom started going through “the big change” and its been hell ever since. She started taking Effexor XR, but stopped because it made her feel ill. She took that for about a week and it worked really well to control her mood swings, but ever since she’s stopped its been awful.I can’t even talk to her, because everytime I do we get into an argument. She flips over everything I say and do. Like the other night for example, I fell asleep on the couch because I didn’t sleep well while she was at the driving range with my brother. She comes home right around the time I wake up and flips out because I didn’t clean up after dinner. I don’t usually do this, because I’m very sensitive to smells and gag really easily. When I explain to her that I wasn’t even in the kitchen, just laying on the couch, therefore not seeing dinner wasn’t cleaned up she claimed that “I didn’t see it because I didn’t want to see it (which is so cliche of her).” She’s been bringing this up for the past 3 days and today when we got in an argument about it she actually smacked me and kept claiming that I started the argument with her.She can’t even see how sensitive and testy she is. She doesn’t realize that she’s picking fights with everyone in the house, but mostly me and that we’re not starting these fights with her.Is there anyway to help her get through this more easily? Control her mood swings? How do you think I should suggest her going back to the gyno to get different medication? I already told my aunt, her twin, do mention it next time she calls hoping she’ll listen to her.
A: Don’t worry, it will pass. My mom had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and immediately became a menopausal b*tch. Its tricky to balance out hormones and it just takes time. Try to be patient and understanding with your mom. She can’t help it, because her hormones are going bananas. My moms personality got much better once she got a higher dosing of estrogen, I recommend your mom go back to the gynecologist for more medication. My mom uses two different types of estrogen patches that are changed twice a week. Hope this helps 🙂
