A: You technically can have bleeding, although it is not truly your "period". (Any bleeding should be reported to your doctor as it may be a sign of complication or miscarriage, though.) If you are taking birth control and become pregnant, you should stop taking the birth control medication immediately because, I believe, it can hurt the fetus.
