could i be pregnant? please read, i’m in desperate need of reassurance.?
Q: roughly 3 months ago i had PROTECTED sex and havent had sex since then. but even when he wears a condom, i still always get nervous that i could potentially still get pregnant. the day after we had sex i started my period, so i thought i was fine. then the next month i missed my period completely. i was really worried so i bought 2 First Response home pregnancy tests. the first one was negative, so i waited a week and took the next one incase it was too soon to tell. the second one came back negative as well. i was still nervous because i skipped a period. my next period came as scheduled but was lighter than normal. finally, a week before my next period my dermatologist put me on Yaz birth control pills and told me to start my first pack the day of my next period. so i was really hoping that it would come as planned. the first day that it came it was VERY light, but i started the pills anyway, but.. my “period” only lasted a day and a half. is that normal? could i still be pregnant? in addition; i have searched ‘pregnancy symptoms’ and i honestly don’t really have any. and im not ‘showing’ yet if i AM pregnant, but i’ve also read that some women don’t show for a long time, and that some women dont get symptoms either. i know i’m being a worry wart, but i can’t help it.PS: i’m 18 years old. and was put on Yaz for ance help. my mom doesn’t know i have had sex. and neither do many other people. which is why i have resulted into yahooanswers for some help. i’m too scared to go to the doctor and get a blood test, because in the back of my mind i know i probably don’t need one. but still. what do you guys think?
A: Okay, sweetie. First of all, all the stress from worrying so much (Not saying you can help it, I worry incessantly myself) can make your periods abnormal. Take another test, first thing when you wake up. That’s when the hormone levels will be at their highest. If it doesn’t show you as pregnant by this point, then that’s not the problem. Whether it shows you as pregnant or not, call a planned parenthood clinic and talk to them. They are very sweet and wonderful people. They will give you guidance and check you out if you are pregnant. If the test reads as negative still, they can do a blood test to help figure out what’s wrong. It could be you’re so worried and focused on it that your body has tricked itself into /thinking/ it’s pregnant. False pregnancies are somewhat common, it’s a possibility. No matter what, just try to relax a bit. All the worrying will just stress you out more, and either cause hardships for you and your babe (If you are) or just stretch things out and get your system even more out of whack. (If you’re not)Good luck sweetie!
BC Pills and lighter period…?
Q: Hey. I have been on the pill for about 6 months now. My last period was lighter than usual. Before this I used my pills to skip my period at the end of november. On the 2/3rd day of my new pack (after not having a pill free week and just carrying on taking my pills without one) i accidentally missed one but doubled up the next day. On this day I had some sexual contact but no actual sex. I got my period in my pill free week this month, but it was lighter than usual. I also noticed (with no possibility of being pregnant) that my last period before my most recent one was also a tad lighter. However, this month’s was even lighter than the last. I have taken 4 preg. tests at a month after i could have become pregnant and all were negative. So I wondered if I should still be worried about this or if I can put my light period down to both being on the bc pill in general or using them to skip my pill free week. Anyone had a similar experience? Thanks!
A: Since I’ve gotten on the pill, my periods have been much, much lighter. Not shorter really, but much lighter… like barely bleeding at all. I think it’s just because of the pill. Hope this helps.
no period for almost two months.?
Q: I’ve had a period for eight years now, and lately my cycles were always pretty regular, between 30 and 35 days. I started taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo a year ago because I had severe cramps that prevented me from going to school and work. Well, in July, I decided to come off the Pill. I was tired of the daily chore because I never took it on time, I skipped days, even a week at times, and figured that if I couldn’t take it right, then why spend the money on it and my fiance and are were warming up to the idea of being parents. Well, I had my period in August, August 13, then, on August 31, I noticed some light pink on the toilet tissue when I wiped. There was not enough for a pad or a tampon. Well, after about three days of this spotting, I woke up to find bright read blood in my panties. This bleeding only last for two days, and then everything was fine. Well, my next period was supposed to start September 10th. I had cramps like it was about to come, but it never did. I didn’t think much of it, I had come off the Pill and had an irregular bleeding episode. Another week went by, and I decided to test just in case, considering the fact that my fiance and I are like rabbits, unprotected rabbits. The test came up negative. I went to the doctor about three days later, and told him that I’d missed a period, I was almost two weeks late. He checked me and told me that I didn’t feel pregnant, that it was probably the Pill and that I shouldn’t be concerned unless it didn’t come next month. He said that everything was normal. He didn’t ask me if I wanted him to run a blood test or anything, and he was out the door before I had the chance to ask him. But, I left and didn’t think much of my missed period. Another week went by, with nothing. I had cramps, but discovered they were gas cramps. I didn’t start thinking about anything until my fiance informed me that my gas was beginning to get a little out of hand. I hadn’t noticed that I had been passing gas and burping, but the more I payed attention, the more I realized I was expelling gas more frequently than I ever had. I figured it was the food I was eating, so I got a list, avoided those foods, but the gas continued. Then I started to notice the nausea. I was taking antibiotics for a UTI at the time, and thought that maybe it was the medicine. I stopped th medicine a week ago, but the nausea and the gas remain. I also noticed that cigarettes make me feel queasy. I had smoked for four years prior to two weeks ago, and then all of a sudden, I couldn’t make it through one light cigarette. I took another pregnancy test, another negative. My nipples are overwhelmed with sensations. I can’t stand for them to be touched. Usually the night owl, I find myself sleeping all the time. I was in bed by 8 the other night. I still feel gassy, bloated, nauseated, tired, moody, cramps, my breasts feel firmer and bigger. There’s no color change in my nipples or anything, and still, there’s that negative on my pregnancy test. I noticed that I have heartburn, more frequently than I ever have. I got it every now and then, maybe, once every two or three months, I’d be laying in bed and wake up with it, but it went away on it’s own. Now it’s like every time I burp, I have that heartburn. I eat constantly, I’m always hungry. I’m trying to hold off until my next period is due to go for a blood test. But why isn’t it showing up? Could I have gotten pregnant later than I thought I did? Is it really just the Pill? Why would I have had a normal period the month after I stopped, and nothing the second month?I’m remaining as collected as I can be about this, because I don’t want to delay it further. But I need to know something, or have some advice from people who’ve been here. No smart remarks please, I know the best thing to do is go to the doctor, but it’s a little hard to get an appointment and I’m trying to find a good clinic to go to. My next period is due the 8th, I’m having period cramps like last month, but I have no idea if I’ll miss this one too.I’m not two months late. I didn’t have a period last month, meaning at this moment I’m three weeks late. My next period is due October the 8th.
A: Your probably pregnant, or it sounds like you are. You need to get a blood test as soon as you can. You want the baby to get all his/her nutrients and prenatal vitamins so he/she will be healthy.
