Wedding Reception Table Centerpieces: What is Your Style?

There are hundreds of centerpiece ideas available online, but how can you decide on a style when you like so many different ideas? It can be very overwhelming to narrow down your options. First, you might benefit from deciding on your own personal style. Do you love big, dramatic floral arrangements? Hate flowers? Following are five different wedding reception table centerpiece styles with a description of each; read each description and choose which best suits your taste.

Minimalistic

Want to keep it simple? Whether it’s your style or budget that decides on how elaborate the reception decor, you may prefer to keep the decorations to a minimum. It may include the use of flowers, and it may not. A small piece with clean lines is often preferred by the minimalist. It might include a simple flower arrangement with one bloom type. The goal is to keep eyes off the decor and on the people.

Modern

You may prefer an ultra-modern style without any flowers. Do you like clean lines and sleek, abstract pieces? There are plenty of table centerpiece ideas that do not include floral arrangements. Consider an arrangement of colorful vases, sans flowers, or a simple vase with floating candles. You have numerous decorative options that do not require an elaborate floral arrangement.

Traditional

Are you ultra-traditional? Maybe you like a particular flower and want to showcase it in your reception decor. The table centerpiece is a great way to do so. You can keep it simple with one floral arrangement per table, or you can use your creativity to design a masterpiece of various blooms. In a traditional floral arrangement, you have not only the flower to consider, but the container (elaborate vase, earthy pot, etc.) and whether you want to include any other elements (such as feathers) to the arrangement.

Dramatic

A large, glitzy centerpiece will steal the show at your wedding reception. Is that what you are aiming for? Dramatic flower arrangements include height, color, contrast, and maybe even some sparkle. Your centerpiece should be elaborate, with mixture of these elements. Mix some feathers in with those flowers. Choose a tall vase and fill it with things that sparkle or grab your attention. Mix contrasting colors, and finish it off with an oversize ribbon or a string of beads. Look for ideas that include a variety of textures if your style is dramatic.

Organic

A natural centerpiece is perfect for an outdoors wedding, or for anyone who wants to incorporate organic elements into their decor. Think greenery: ivy, leaves, twigs, rustic containers…. It may not be glitzy, but your reception decor doesn’t have to be boring. Mix natural elements that have different textures, pretty colors and so on.
