Wacom Pen and Touch

The Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch ($99) is a tablet that gives your laptop or desktop a surface in which a pen can be used to draw and hand gestures can be used to navigate the computer. It is ideal for photo editing activities because it can give you accurate control of photos, making it much like a canvas. It is also great as an alternative to using the mouse and keyboard if you work for long periods of time on the computer and suffer from wrist or joint pain. There is a large active area that is much larger than the trackpad on a laptop or a smartphone. This increased space makes it much easier to use. The tablet contains a multi-touch surface that you can use your hands to operate, and also comes with an ergonomic pen. The pen itself is cordless and battery free. Due to the surface and the tip of the pen, it feels like writing with pen on paper.

While the interactive surface is large, the product itself is still compact. The dimensions of it are 9.8″x6.9″. And while it does not consider itself a full-fledged tablet it still provides a high resolution image. It displays images in 2450 lpi resolution, not bad for the price. The orientation of the Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch is reversible so it can be used comfortably by both left- and right-handed people. It is compatible with both desktops and laptops, PCs and Macs.

One of the best aspects of this products is the fact that it includes a free full version of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Nik Color Efex Pro. Just the price of Adobe Photoshop Elements alone makes the Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch a great deal. Use the tablet and software to edit photographs or create your own compositions. Use it with Picnik, PhotoBucket, Picasa and other online photo-editing tools with simple ease. Use hand gestures and finger taps to move around the desktop, scroll through documents, navigate the web, and zoom in and out. Once you become an expert, assign shortcuts to the four ExpressKeys so you can accomplish intensive tasks or repetitive tasks with the touch of a single button. If all of this sounds intimidating don’t worry, there is a tutorial that comes with the software and hardware that helps you acclimate to the use of an interactive surface. Simply plug it into a USB port and go!
