Three Reasons Babysitting is Not for Everyone

A lot of people would say that babysitting is a walking the park. While someone who has actually had experience with babysitting knows this is not the case at all. Yes occasionally you will get the kids who are well behaved and take little to no effort to watch; while on the other hand you have the kids who are demands and don’t listen to their parents so there is no way they are going to listen to you. In either case some people are born to work with children while others were not.

If you are easily annoyed by crying or whining
If this sounds like you, you may want to reconsider going into the babysitting business. Children of all ages like to cry and whine over the littlest things, and if you were to get a child who is sick or has separation issues then you would be in for a ride. While there are those people out there who naturally are great with children and know how to Handel the whining and crying held in store when it comes to babysitting.

When left with a younger sibling or relative do you become overwhelmed?
When it comes to babysitting, think to yourself about times when you got left home with your younger sibling or a family member. Did you feel overwhelmed in these situations? If you answered yes then you should probably not watch other parents children. When it comes to family you have more freedom in how you can act towards them when it comes to discipline. For instance if you were left home with you little brother you wouldn’t feel bad spanking him or putting him in timeout if he did something wrong because your parents do it all the time; but if you were to be babysitting for someone outside of your family and there child was acting the same way as your brother you wouldn’t treat them the same even though you may want to. There are also those people in this world who in a heart beat would volunteer to watch a sibling or family member so that the parents can have a night to themselves. These people make good caregivers for other families because they can Handel their own family without becoming overwhelmed and wanting to rip the hair out of their head.

Can you handle a dirty diaper?
Babysitting is not for those with a weak stomach. This is the big one when it comes to babysitting for a family with babies or toddlers who are not yet potty trained. If you can’t handle the smell or the “grossness” of having to change a dirty diaper then babysitting definitely isn’t you thing; because even if the children/child you’re watching are potty trained accidents do happen.
