The Name of the Godhead

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:18-19.

Jesus instructed his disciples to baptize in the name. He didn’t say in the names of the father, the son and the Holy Ghost, but in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Ghost. This means both the father and the Holy Ghost answer to the name of Jesus!

Do you realize that in the bible the Holy Spirit has not been given a name? But there’s a name to which he responds. It’s amazing that the Holy Spirit doesn’t have a name. Holy Spirit is not a name, it’s just a character; like one would say happy child. He’s called the Holy Spirit because he is holy, but the definite article the precedes that character because he is the Holy Spirit. But there’s a name he answers to and that’s the name of Jesus.

The bible says about Jesus that it pleased the father that in him should all fullness dwell. Jesus is the embodiment of the Godhead; the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Christ Jesus. So when you call on the name of Jesus, the father responds and the Holy Spirit goes into action on your behalf. Hallelujah!
