THE MINISTRY of the HOLY SPIRIT in the FIRST CENTURY

Jesus said that he would ask the father to send the Holy Spirit to indwell his Apostles. John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”

In John 14:26 Jesus further said that it is the Father who sends the Spirit, and it is the Spirit who will teach his Apostles ALL THINGS…That would include the things pertaining to Christs return…right? “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

Then Jesus said in John 16:13… “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

Jesus said that this Spirit whom the Father will send who will teach His Apostles of “ALL THINGS” will also “show the very same Apostles…“THINGS TO COME”.

Jesus said that the Holy spirit would teach and show the apostles the future, (things to come). So when the Spirit filled and Spirit inspired Apostles said:

—The Lord would come in THAT GENERATION
—The Lord would come SOON
—The Lord would come QUICKLY
—The Lord is even AT THE DOOR
—The Apostles were already in THE LAST DAYS
—And that the Apostles were already in THE LAST HOUR

The Holy Spirit must have known what he was showing and teaching these disciples…Right?

And either Christ came in that generation, or all the Apostles must be branded as frauds and Jesus a false prophet.

Jesus promised to the Apostles:

(1.) An Indwelling Spirit (2.) A Spirit like himself (3.) A Spirit from the Father (4.) A Spirit who would lead and teach them truth and ALL THINGS (5.) A Spirit who would show them the future (things to come).

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came, and filled the apostles and all who were in the room. This Spirit was from the Father, and this Spirit led the Apostles into all truth teaching them ALL THINGS.

Why then do modern day theologians leave out the ministry of the spirit of Showing the Apostles ” THINGS TO COME”? And why then do modern theologians assume that when the Apostles taught about the things to come that they somehow got it wrong?

Modern theologians, particularly futurists are not willing to admit that Jesus came when and how the apostles said he would. Hence they deny in a practical way the ministry of the Holy Sprit in “Showing them things to come.”

The bottom line question is: Did he come – or were the Apostles false prophets devoid of any Holy Spirit influence or inspiration?

It is incredible how ideas have consequences.
