Thank You for the Bountiful Table

This time of year always reminds us (or should remind us) that we have so much to be thankful for now in the past, present and future. For those of us who have enjoyed the bountiful goods of our hard work in our gardens, we should be thankful that we have land, water, birds and bees to pollinate, sunshine and everything in between.

At your Thanksgiving table you may even be utilizing some of the goods (some fresh green beans that liven up your casserole, potatoes that become fluffy mounds of goodness, apples for your desert special and more) from your garden, oh what a treat to share with family and friends.

This time of year depending on your location (or zone) may have put you into hibernation mode in regards to your growing season, but never fear the thoughts of gardening are never far in your mind. This is a great time of year to evaluate the pluses and even minuses of your growing season and it is not a bad thing if a crop wasn’t as plentiful as you expected there are always unforeseen factors during the year, but you can learn and grow as well. Also consider new crops that may thrive in your garden, but as always keep in mind that you want to grow fruits or vegetables that you will use, don’t waste the space you are using.

The ground may be getting harder and harder but the thoughts of our spring, summer and fall days spent outside warm us up. So again at this time of year add a little thankfulness for your garden and all that went into it to make it a success.
