Tendencies to Kill

No matter what the bible says about man being a superior being, humans will always be like any other animal created within the earth. Intelligence isn’t enough. Time and time again man is brought back to its very nature: a predator. It shouldn’t surprise anyone to see a good morally person such as an elder in a church guilty of murder. It is in our nature to kill. The question is: why?

A policeman returns home early from work and he finds his wife cheating with another man. He says to himself ”how could she do this to me?” and without thinking he removes his gun and fires. What if he was not a cop and had no gun. His chances of killing a fellow man would have been greatly reduced. The tendency of killing would have been there but the crime would never have been committed.

Actually, crimes are committed not because we cannot control our tendencies to do evil but because we are armed with the tools of destruction. Without these tools crimes will be limited to nil. Three teenagers are angry with the world and the first picks up a gun and goes to his school and starts shooting the other students. The second tries to kill himself while the third teenager picks up a fight in a bar. Each of these three teenagers had the tendencies to commit murder but it was only the first who had the opportunity to come in contact with a deadly weapon. Without the gun in his possession there are high chances that he would have behaved like the others.

Arms are the fundamental reasons why crimes are committed. Eliminate the arms and we are going to reduce eighty percent of criminality in our society.
