The old and tired books
sit upon the dusty shelf
As I glance at them
I remember reading them
some time ago
They took me on a reading adventure
Away from the real world and the scars that
it leaves
I was able to put myself in someone’s else’s shoes
Such an escape
from the real me
The fights that I fight
and the pain that I feel
Reading takes away from me
what is real
It takes me on an adventure
One of excitement and trial
I could learn to stay here for a while.
