Aw, a Sweet 16 part is just so adorable. A young girl is becoming a woman and the Sweet 16 party is one of the last special occasions she’ll have as a girl. The party needs to be extra special, with lots of friends and family member, plus fantastic foods and desserts. Oh, and the table – it needs to be beautiful, too. And it will be when you make a centerpiece which is perfect for the Sweet 16 party.
Craft stores sell a large variety of wooden numbers and letters that can help you make the centerpiece with no problems. The numbers and letters are available in a selection of sizes from thin and flat to large and chunky. Choose letters and numbers to spell out “Sweet 16″. The wooden pieces you buy should be at least an inch thick so that they’ll stand on their own. The letters should all be capital letters.
You have lots of choices for decorating the letters. One way is to spray paint the wooden pieces. Or, paint just the sides of the numbers and letters and then cut fabric or decorative paper to cover the front and back of each number or letter. Cut the material to be the shape of the particular number or letter and just glue it on.
Another easy way to decorate the “Sweet 16″ centerpiece is to use paint markers. They’re available in a huge variety of colors and types – like pearl-type, glitter or metallic – and are as easy to use as ordinary markers. Draw different designs on each letter and number to create a colorful array of dots, stripes, geometric shapes and others.
When you’re finished decorating the letters and numbers the way you want just glue them all together to spell “Sweet 16″. However, you’ll glue them together so that they actually say “Sweet16″. Use wood glue or even hot glue to attach the letters and numbers, side-by-side.
With the “Sweet 16″ in place on the table there are many ways to further embellish it. Wrap a feather boa around the bottom of the centerpiece or even set tea light candles on some of the letters or numbers. Silk flower pieces, curled ribbon and even large, fake jewels can be littered around – or on – the centerpiece to further enhance it.
The Sweet 16 centerpiece is the perfect decoration for the birthday party table and will grab attention. The young woman can set the centerpiece on a shelf or other surface in her bedroom when the party is over.
