Survivor South Pacific Episode 3

As Survivor South Pacific opened, Christine joined Christine on Survivor South Pacific. She introduced herself to Semhar, who was already there. As it is still early on in the game, not everybody has had the chance to get to know all the members of the other tribe.

Back at camp, Mikayla was unsure why Brandon had been trying to vote her off. Brandon felt bad about how tribal council went, and regretted trying to vote Mikayla off. To the cameraman, he remarked that he didn’t want to be the villain like his uncle Russell. He wanted to be a hero, but it looks like he is having trouble living up to the Christian ideal.

Before the Immunity/Reward Challenge

In the morning, two people from each tribe would have the opportunity to watch the first duel. Stacy and Coach attended the duel for Upolu, while Ozzy watched the challenge with Elyse. The duelists were to balance a totem on a pole; as time progressed, they would add sections to the pole to make it longer. While Semhar was waiting for the duel to begin, she made up a really bad poem. The spectators, and Jeff, looked at her like she was nuts. The two ladies were able to balance the poles for a while, and were able to add a couple of extensions to the pole, but Christine ended up winning. Semhar tearfully left.

At Upolu, Brandon revealed that he was Russell Hantz’s nephew to the entire tribe. Mikayla didn’t trust him, which is understandable considering that he tried to vote her out the night before. Coach thought that it was a dumb idea to reveal his identity, but he still considered him to be a valuable part of his alliance.

Later on, Mikayla approached Brandon, asking him why he wanted to vote her out. He said that other people distrusted her as well, and brought the issue up with the whole tribe. His alliance was worried that they might have made a mistake by allying with him. Brandon, on the other hand, was upset that he had lost his temper, and prayed that he could avoid sinning in the future.

At Savaii, Papa Bear, Cochrane, and Dawn seemed to be on the outside of the main alliance. In the main alliance, Ozzy told Keith that he had the immunity idol, and Keith told Whitney.

The Survivor Challenge

For the first stage of the challenge, two Survivors ran into the water to a platform, while holding onto a boogie board. On the platform, they would retrieve a bag. Back on the shore, most of the other tribemates used a winch to release the rope attached to the boogie board. When their tribe mate was ready to come back to the shore, they would reel them in. Once one person returned with a bag, another tribe member would run out.

The tribes were close as they began the second round, which required the teams to retrieve five different baskets with a grappling hook. Upolu had a slight lead after this segment.

After this part of the challenge, the players would untie the bags, which contained banners. After they unfurled the banners, they would then have to arrange the banners in order to make out a picture of their tribe flag. Upolu was well ahead at this point, and ended up winning. In addition to winning immunity, they won some flavor to their diet, including coffee, tea, cookies, and chocolate.

The Vote

Ozzy and the rest of the Savaii tribe were upset about losing the challenge, and thought that they should vote out those that didn’t do well during challenges. Papa Bear, who had performed poorly during the day’s challenge, was the obvious target. Papa Bear knew that he had a strong chance of being voted out, even though they told him that they were voting out Cochran, so he went into the woods and pretended that he found the immunity idol.

During Tribal Council, they talked about the immunity idol and how it affected the game. Papa Bear mentioned that there was an alliance of five and he was one of the three that was on the outside. He was evidently correct about his status, because everybody voted for him, except for Jim, who voted for Cochran; Papa Bear voted for Jim.
