Spiritual Basic Training: 50 Missions for a Spirit-Filled Life #8

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). Pray that we are not to be led into temptation. We all stare down temptation every day in our lives. Whether it is on television, streaming on the Internet, or peer pressure from misguided friends, it is out there enticing us to try it out. Our prayer to God should ask for the strength to block out the temptation of the world. We are weak in the flesh but with God at our side, we can repel any attack of temptation. His wisdom and strength are what we need to prevail, and we will prevail! Ask God for his power to shun all temptation that may come our way. Be diligent in our prayers to God. As often as temptation comes, pray to the Lord for his strength until temptation no longer tempts us anymore. Fight back temptation vigorously with the power given by the Lord. We must remain stalwart in our determination to defeat all temptation in our lives. Temptation is not going to give up on attacking us, so we must rise to the challenge and overpower it with the help of the Lord.

MISSION: Fight back temptation vigorously

Identify our temptations and strike back at them confidently. The next time a temptation attacks us, stop and think of the three R’s: rebuke, remove, and restore. First, rebuke the temptation in the name of the Lord. Second, remove the temptation from our lives completely. Lastly, restore the confidence in ourselves to win the fight against temptation through our Lord God Almighty. Take control of what we let in our minds and hearts. Do not let temptation creep into our lives anymore!
