COMMENTARY | Latinos vote predominately for Democrats. Can Ron Paul change that with the Nevada caucus? While most Republican candidates pander for the Latino vote, Paul uses straight talk and honesty. As Republican candidates brushed off the Hispanic Coalition Meeting, Ron Paul showed up to discuss issues.
Paul says he does not like wire, walls or guns on the border. That puts him apart from the rest of the Republican candidates running for President. He also does not believe in identification cards. This is where Paul may disagree with both Democrats and Republicans. Paul’s fear is that everyone in America would have to carry I.D.
Even some Paul supporters have difficulty with his stand on illegal immigrants’ cost to taxpayers. Paul says this issue is only brought up when times are hard. He says that Latinos have been made scapegoats. Many small communities have seen their funds dwindle to nothing from supporting illegal immigrants. This limb that Paul goes out on should make Hispanics take a hard look at him.
Paul says he believes that illegal immigrants break the law to get here. Yet he has no plans for rounding up illegals and sending them back to their origins. Paul still disappoints Latino voters when he says he does not agree with the Dream Act.
Is it time for Latino voters to start America on the road to personal freedoms, smaller government and spending cuts? Instead of listening year after year to politicians promising the moon, should they take a chance on Paul? He believes all citizens benefit from the Constitution and how it governs.
Are Nevada’s Latino voters ready to think for themselves, and carry that through with a Paul vote? No matter who you are, you do not have to wonder if Paul is pandering to you. He does not do that. He is honest with voters, even if it makes them mad. Paul believes in the Constitution; there is no middle ground.
Paul would be electable if you cast your vote for him. Are Latinos ready to take that giant step out of their comfort zone? He will do more for Latinos and people of all faiths, races and circumstances. Why? Because Paul believes in the Constitution and that the Constitution believes in America’s citizens.
