Restaurant Reviews- Irish Pub- Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day All Year! JC Wooloughan’s Inside the JW Marriott Resort, Las Vegas

I like the way the JC Wooloughan Irish Pub is designed. Diners have several smaller partially enclosed private rooms for romantic hide-a-ways, family get-togethers, and parties. Is Wooloughan’s an authentic Pub? Yes, it is 100% Irish, the only Pub that was built in Dublin, Ireland, dismantled, and assembled piece by piece to Las Vegas, and constructed here. Just walk around the beautiful dining room, the atmosphere is unmistakingly Irish! Everything in the Pub is related to their Irish heritage. In Ireland, the Pubs were the government center where everything was decided over a pint.

Marjorie Morrison, Pub Manager, wants to have a traditional festive atmosphere. “This is a meeting place, a place to come to dine, have a drink, and enjoy good company. I love the people! Everybody gets to know the regulars. People meet here and get married here.” Your evening in an Irish Pub is complete when you sing-along with John Windsor, a one man band. He has a book with a selection of hundreds of Irish ballads, folk songs, popular, country, a little rock, and other type of music.

John appears Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 8 P. M.- Midnight On Friday and Saturday, the Wild Celts and other lively local groups entertain from 9 P. M.- 1 A. M., always no cover, no minimum, except for special concerts. Pick up their new Calendar of Events every month for the latest news about specials, promotions, parties, and entertainment. This Pub loves to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all year with their St. Practice Day, practicing each month for the big day. Join them on the 17th of every month for drink specials, food specials, fun, and prizes! One weekend monthly, you can enjoy their summer concerts outside in the “backyard” (Just go through the pub’s back door). They have a mobile bar, tables, chairs set up on the lawn.

Chef Andrew Spicuglia, of JC Wooloughan’s Irish Pub, explained, “We serve more than just Irish cuisine and offer a variety of our own creations. Everyone wants to order something different.” What makes their Gaelic Steak Irish? Chef Andrew tells his secret, “It is marinated from 2-3 days in an Irish whiskey peppercorn sauce.

I use a full bottle of Irish whiskey for the batch of steaks.” What flavor! The crispy salmon filet is lightly battered, crumbed, and served on a bed of spinach blanched with a scallion, soy/ ginger glaze. The crispiness of the outside of the salmon was a great contrast to the tender, juicy inside. The chef commented, “When we have a good idea, we try it out and see how our guests like the dish. Some of our other American-style dishes have Irish influences! We try to give it an Irish twist to make the dishes something new with originality and some tradition.”

Of course, Wooloughan’s offers traditional English, Scottish, and Irish meals. You will love the taste of Beef N’ Guinness- Tender chunks of beef marinated in Guinness Beer, slowly cooked with mushrooms and vegetables, then topped with a puff pastry. Another Irish delight includes Bangers N’ Mash- Irish sausages, grilled onions and mashed potatoes. Or try an authentic Irish Breakfast- Fried eggs, imported Irish rashers and sausage, black pudding, grilled tomato, fried potato cake, and baked beans. I always enjoy tasting foods from other countries.

If you are allergic to certain foods or following a special health diet, just tell the waitress. Their stuffed Summer Salad is low in cholesterol and great for loosing weight! A tomato is filled with grilled chopped chicken breast, peppers, veggies, and then topped with luscious raspberry walnut dressing. This salad sounds delicious!

Wooloughan’s is ready for your party! Whether you are celebrating a birthday, family get together, wedding reception, business reception, or other event, the chef will do his best to accommodate you. Depending on the size of the gathering, the Pub has the entertainment section, smaller partially open rooms, a banquet room, and outdoor venue.
