Recycled CD Jewel Case Wall Art Project

Recycle empty CD jewel cases into a unique and unusual wall art project. The cases are perfect to hang with tacky putty. This makes this project an ideal wall hanging for anyone not wanting to put holes in their walls.

Things You’ll Need:

9 empty CD jewel cases
14 ¾-by-15-inch photograph
18-inch ruler
Pencil
Scissors or craft knife
Tacky putty

Instructions:

Step 1 – Place the 14 ¾-by-15-inch photograph on a clean, flat work surface so the back is facing up. Position the photograph so the right and left edges are on a vertical axis.

Step 2 – Place a mark every 5-inches along the right and left side. Position the ruler so the top edge lines up with the top two marks opposite one another. Draw a line to connect the dots. Repeat the process with the remaining set of dots.

Step 3 – Place a mark every 4 ¾-inches along the top and bottom edge. Position the ruler so the top edge lines up with the first two marks opposite one another. Draw a line to connect the dots. Repeat the process with the remaining two of dots.

Step 4 – Cut along the drawn lines to create 9 rectangular pieces.

Step 5 – Open the CD jewel cases. Slide one rectangle in each case. Close the cases,

Step 6 – Place the jewel cases next to one another to recreate the photograph.

Step 7 – Place a quarter size piece of tacky putty on the back of each jewel case. Hang the jewel cases on the wall in the desired location.

Make any size wall hanging with CD jewel cases. A jewel case is 5-inches tall and 4 ¾-inch wide. Keep this in mind when printing or selecting a photograph or picture.
