Recycled Blue Jean Crafts – Denim Book Cover Instructions

Recycle old blue jeans into denim book covers. Add a pocket or two to a binder for additional carrying space for pencils, pens, note cards and money for the vending machine.

Things You’ll Need:

Old blue jeans
Scissors
Binder or book
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks

Instructions:

Step 1 – Cut the legs off of a pair of old blue jeans just above the crotch.

Step 2 – Cut the front of the jeans open by cutting along the center seam and both sides of the zipper. Remove the zipper from the jeans.

Step 3 – Turn the jeans over so the pockets are on the back. Open the binder or book and place it on the jeans lining up the center of the spine with the back seam and the top with the edge of the waistband.

Step 4 – Trim the excess jeans 1-inch larger than the book or binder. Remember, the top edge is flush with the top edge of the binder or book.

Step 5 – Fold the blue jeans over the edge of the binder or book and hot glue into place. Hot glue the waistband to the top of the binder or book if desired.

This project permanently attaches the blue jeans to the book. Do not use this method for school books. Binders and notebooks work great for this project.
