Choosing a good digital camera isn’t easy. You want to find something in you price range that will have most, if not all, of the latest and greatest features, right? Well, that’s why you should get a Canon PowerShot s95.
The Canon PowerShot s95 is a point-and-shoot camera that has a host of features similar to a digital SLR, for a lot less money and in a slick, compact package.
Benefits of the Canon PowerShot s95
Portability. I’ve found that you never quite know when the opportunity for that “perfect shot” is going to appear. The sleek style and small size of the s95 really drew me to this digital camera. For example, when my sister and I went to Norway, she had a DSLR and I had my point and shoot. The pictures were of very similar quality, but I took my pocket-size camera everywhere I went, resulting in a ton of great candid shots.
Ease of use. I’ve taken classes in photography, and I know the basics of how an SLR works (along with how to get great pictures no matter what kind of camera you’re using). Still, you don’t always have time to fiddle with settings when you want to take a picture in the heat of the moment. The auto setting for the s95 is excellent 90% of the time. In addition, this Canon has the option of controlling aperture and shutter speed, so you get a lot of the functionality of an SLR without the hassle.
Low light setting. The low light setting of the s95 is top-notch, even when compared to some of the more expensive high-end cameras, because of a good built-in light sensor. I never use a camera’s built-in flash, because of the way that it completely washes out the scene, so a good low light setting is important for me when shooting in the evening or indoors. The setting on the s95 is much improved over the last point and shoot I owned, especially when there is at least some light to work with (such as when shooting in a well-lit room at night).
Price. It’s not the newest version on the market (with the release of the s100), so you’re going to be getting great deals of less than $300 on this little gem for the rest of its functional product lifespan. And although the s100 is 12.1 megapixels instead of the s95’s 10, with a slightly more powerful zoom, in general the s95 has gotten much better reviews.
My Personal Canon PowerShot s95 Experience
I’ve loved my s95 since the day I bought it. Whether I’m taking action shots of my beagle and his mastiff pal, capturing the beauty of fall leaves and sunsets, or creating memories during outdoor weddings, I’m sure to get plenty of great shots.
