Power of Prayer

This is my 3rd person recollection of a testimony given by my friend Danny Lopez at church this Sunday. I truly feel more people should hear it. About two weeks ago Danny’s wife Melissa received an emailed picture of a baby born premature. Little Aiden Lopez (no relation) weighed only 14 oz at birth.

Melissa sent it to Danny’s phone and asked him to pray for the baby. Danny started to mention the baby in his daily prayers. On several occasions Danny would clean out his phone. As Danny would say.”My wife texts me a lot “. When he would come upon that picture something told him not to delete it. He didn’t. He just kept praying. Last Saturday Danny took his own 8-year-old son to the Tobyhanna Skate Park.
As there were older teens there he knew that the language would be rough. Danny said to himself, “As long as they don’t cuss too badly it would be ok.” As his son played In the park the language got worse. Finally, Danny stood up and asked the teens if they can please stop dropping so many “F” bombs as his son is in the park playing. The teens stopped and said they were sorry. One said “I didn’t know your son was here. I’m sorry sir.” Danny said “That’s fine. Thank you. No big deal.” About twenty minutes later that same teen came back to Danny and apologized again. He told Danny that he also had a son and if he was in the park he wouldn’t want him “to hear all the profanity.” He went on to tell Danny his son was in the hospital and his Name was Aiden.

Danny was startled. “Aiden ?” he asked.Danny quickly got his phone not paying attention while the teen continued to talk. He searched and found the picture and showed it to the boy. “Is this your son?” The youth was stunned. He said “Why do you have a picture of my son in your phone?” Danny answered “I’ve been praying for your son. In fact a lot of people have been praying for him”. Danny asked the boy “Are you Christian?” The teen answered “I used to be”. Danny said “Son, I believe God is trying to get your attention.” Upon driving away from the park Danny’s son was looking out the window. He turned to his father and asked “Dad, why is that boy crying” Aiden’s father was sitting in the only shaded part of the park sobbing next to his friend. Danny briefly explained about divine appointments as they drove home. Several weeks have gone by and baby Aiden was called to the Lord. We continue to pray for his parents.
