NFL Power Rankings – 2013 Season

Two weeks into the season and we have one of the largest blockbuster trades in recent years. The big movers this week are Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs shooting up from number 25 to number 14. The 49ers tumbled from 2 to 7 after an abysmal performance against the Seahawks.

Updated 9/19/2013

1. Denver Broncos (last week – 1) – Two straight weeks of looking completely dominant. Can anyone stop Peyton’s team from a run for February?
2. Seattle Seahawks (last week 3) – Absolutely handled the 49ers. If the offense can get on track with the defense this team may be around in February as well. 3. New Orleans Saints (last week 4) – Don’t look now, but last year’s worst defense in history may actually be better than average. 4. Houston Texans (last week 5) -It ain’t been pretty, but it’s good enough to get wins. 5. Detroit Lions (last week 6) – Offensive weaponry not named Calvin Johnson and a defensive front that can create havoc. We may have a new boss in the NFC North. 6. New England Patriots (last week 7) – Barely winning against the worst NFL teams in the league won’t do much to bolster fan confidence, but it’s a win. 7. San Francisco 49ers (last week 2) – Is the Seattle defense that good or is the Packer defense that bad? I think the answer lies in the fact that the 49er offense is just so so. 8. Baltimore Ravens (last week 8) – Not a very impressive game against a not so impressive opponent. 9. Atlanta Falcons (last week 9) – A lack of defense is going to give the Falcons problems all year. 10. Chicago Bears (last week 14) – This Bears team looks legit. NFC North may be the best division in football. 11. Green Bay Packers (last week 12) – The Packers rebound doing what they do best. Putting points on the board! 12. Dallas Cowboys (last week 10) – The SuperBowl dreams of the Cowboys appear to have been just that…..Dreams! 13. Philadelphia Eagles (last week 11) – Chip Kelly’s system just won’t translate to the NFL if he can’t come up with a way to stop teams. Kansas City Chiefs (last week 25) – Did anyone see this coming? Andy Reid has got this team playing great football and Alex Smith finally is looking like the QB that the 49ers thought they got. Indianapolis Colts (last week 13) – Because he was drafted with RGIII, we forget how good an athlete Andrew Luck is. Last year’s playoff berth was no fluke. 16. Miami Dolphins (last week 26) – Another Good win. This team may be better than I thought. 17. Cincinnati Bengals (last week 17) – The depth on this team is impressive. Dalton to Green may end up as one of the great QB/WR combinations with Montana to Rice and Aikman to Irving. 18. Pittsburgh Steelers (last week 15) – This team looks old and slow. This once great franchise needs a complete overhaul. 19. New York Giants (last week 16) – Forget Championships! Will you be able to keep Eli upright throughout the season. 20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (last week 18) – Offensively this team has a lot to prove. 21. Washington Redskins (last week 19) – RG3 will be great if you allow him time to heal. Cousins is more than capable of holding down the fort. 22. Tennessee Titans (last week 20) – Anyone else confused about the direction of the Titans? 23. St. Louis Rams (last week 21) – This is definitely a Jeff Fisher team and really starting to look like a contender. 24. New York Jets (last week 22) – One thing about the Jets is that they bring defense to the game and dysfunctional or not when you’ve got defense, you’ve got a chance. 25. Carolina Panthers (last week 23) – The Cam Newton honeymoon is over and fans are now looking for results that the Panthers just cannot give. 26. San Diego Chargers (last week 27) – This team proved that it has a lot left in the tank. 27. Arizona Cardinals (last week 24) – This is a good football team. Maybe they’ll figure it out eventually. 28. . Minnesota Vikings (last week 28) – Adrian Peterson can’t do it all and Ponder is not the answer. Going to be a long season for Vikings fans. I will repeat this every week until something changes. 29. Oakland Raiders (last week 31) – I know it was just the Jags, but a win is a win. 30. Buffalo Bills (last week 30) – With the amount of young talent and Mario Williams now playing up to his potential, this team may turn out to be better than we thought. 31. Cleveland Browns (last week 29) – The new regime is making is mark. They will be forever judged by this trade. Lombardi better live up to his famous name. 32. Jacksonville Jaguars (last week 32) – You can’t score. You can’t stop anyone from scoring. You can’t sell 300 tickets to a home game. Why not sign Tebow???? I repeat!
