N.Y. Jets Offense Struggling to Find Their Groove

Upon watching the last couple of games fans have noticed a collapse in the Jets offensive production. The ground and pound mentality has been lost in the mix and the offensive playcalling by Brian Schottenheimer has been abysmal. The devastating defeat to the Patriots was bad enough, but to travel to Denver and embarass themselves further when all the Broncos could ascertain was a field goal up until the last minute of the game was attrocious.
Can you place all of the blame on Schottenheimer? No, of course not. To be honest Mark Sanchez still has yet to develop into an elite quarterback in the National Football League. He seems like a frightened young man still unsure of himself and his abilities.
His numbers are not terrible, but it is the clutch game winning drives and ability to control your offense and the clock that make an elite QB. Not to mention the wide range of talent that surrounds him and his inability to make a big play to gain momentum for his team and his fans.
Trouble is most definitely brewing for the green and white and their chances of making a postseason run are slowly beginning to fade. It’s not over quite yet, however, to be successful in future games both Sanchez and Schottenheimer need to seriously reevaluate their present strategy as it is costing them loss after loss in big game situations.
Rex Ryan needs to intervene and develop new techniques to put his offense back on the right path. Defense for sure wins championships, but without a little help, confidence, and consistency from their offense the team can only go so far. There is still time to right the ship, but time is running out in a conference that boasts both the Patriots and Bills who are playing at an extremely high level.
