Monogram Decorator Piece

Some people who love to do crafts don’t take advantage of many wooden projects because they think they’ll need a saw, drill, hammer and nails, and more. But when you go to your local craft store you’ll find wood that can be used to build nice decorator pieces for your home. With these, you won’t need any tools – maybe a hot glue gun – and you can make many different things. Block letters, for example, can be used to make a monogram arrangement that can display flowers, candles, or picture frames. The monogram can hang on a wall or sit on a shelf. It can be large or small, colorful or ordinary. The versatile block letters are not expensive and can help you make a monogram centerpiece for a wedding or just a new decorator piece for your own home.

Purchase a single block letter or do an entire monogram with two or three letters. You’ll find the wooden letters in several sizes and thicknesses. Choose ones which are thick to make this particular decorator piece.

The letters are in an unfinished state so you can decide how you want them to look. Simply paint them or cut out fabric or paper shapes and glue them onto the front of the wooden letters. You can glitter the letters, add roping around the perimeters, or otherwise embellish them to suit the theme you want.

Some wooden letters will stand on their own but others, like a “C”, might not. So, if needed, hot glue the letters, side-by-side. After that, there are many things you can do. Lay silk vines on the monogram, set a tea light on one or more of the letters, or set a single frame on the center letter.

Using different techniques you can make all sorts of decorator pieces with the wooden letters. For example, instead of a monogram, spell out something like “BEACH”, and cover the letters with scrapbook paper that features dolphins, fish, shells, or other sea-theme images. Set shells or even a miniature lighthouse novelty on top. Or, spell out “LOVE” for a wedding centerpiece and cover the letters with red hearts or even copied photos of the couple. For a kitchen, spell out “HOME”, “DINER”, or another kitchen-theme word, and decorate it with kitchen-theme paper or cloth. On top of the letters, set measuring cups, a tiny plant, or a votive candle.

With block letters you can make a nice decorator piece for a child’s room, a centerpiece for a special occasion, a new wall hanging, or any number of other cute arrangements. With the letters being as cheap as a buck a piece you can make something gorgeous with very little money.
