Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito

On more than one occasion recently, I have purchased and eaten a frozen Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito. One of Jose Ole’s Premium Burritos, the steak and cheese variety is an authentic tasting frozen Mexican item that is available at many American food retailers.

Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines the Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito.

Size
The net weight of the standard sized Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito is five ounces (142 grams). One burrito counts as one serving. In physical size, the burrito measures roughly 7″ x 2.5″.

Although one burrito counts as one serving, one is not enough to fill me up, but it is a good-sized snack.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one five ounce Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito at Central Connecticut area supermarkets generally ranges between $1.09 and $1.29. To me, that price range seems very reasonable.

Texture / Consistency
When fully heated, the Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito features a soft, yet fairly firm texture. The burrito is packed pretty tightly with ingredients, which can be very hot. From experience, I have found that letting the burrito sit for a minute after removing it from the oven allows the item to cool off and firm up a little.

So far, I have eaten two of these frozen burritos. One, I wrapped in aluminum foil and placed on a cooke sheet in a conventional oven and the other I placed directly on the cookie sheet. The burrito wrapped in aluminum foil was softer than the unwrapped one and I preferred the softer texture.

Taste / Flavor
For the most part, I really enjoy the flavor of the Jose Ole Steak & Cheese Burrito. The baked flour tortilla is filled with mildly-spiced shredded beef, small pieces of green chile peppers and Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses. The various flavors in this burrito are well balanced and it is not overly spicy.

Both times that I’ve eaten this frozen burrito, I noticed that the item gave off a faint aroma that smelled like fryalator grease when it was heating in the oven and I could also slightly taste the flavor that I smelled. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 8.75.
