Job Well Done

Steve Jobs, 1955 – 2011
To some 56 may seem old but to many he was way too young. Not many have been able to achieve the level of success that will be forever credited to Steve Jobs. The fact that I never got a chance to personally meet him has nothing to do with the impact his life was able to make on mine. I can’t even say that I know much about his start or His known legacy. Yet I can truly say that something about him touched me deeply. I found myself praying for him as I would a family member.

The success of Apple wouldn’t exist without the ingenuity of Steve Jobs. His work ethic and dedication has been proven over the years to produce just what the public was convinced they couldn’t do without. He had a level of integrity that helped to sell the brand of Apple products. Each new product became an event until ultimately the anticipation of each new item had many waiting in long lines to be the first to process it. Just yesterday I felt an urgency to pray for him, and it wasn’t because of the release of the new phone. It was just something I felt in my gut.

My prayers go out to his family and his company. To his family because I know that they will deeply miss him, to his company because I am sure that there is a level of uncertainty. With the economy already on shaky ground the loss of Jobs is a great concern to many. (pun intended) My question is: who could even begin to take his place? Who would even dare to try? Pray for Apple as you pray for the Jobs!

Steve Jobs:words for future generations

I had to come back and add this, after hearing his speech. How profound are his words, and quite prophetic. So many of us get our priorities all mixed up and seek fame & wealth and end up miserable. He made it plain, seek that thing you love the most and find fulfillment! If only the listeners took heart in the words they were privy to hear.

Also after learning how he lived heightened my respect for him; just to know that a man of his caliber with all the wealth he had achieved chose to live a humble life with his family. I believe that heaven welcomed him home. I posted a statement on my facebook page ” you can’t tip toe up on death and not be prepared when you meet it!”

I believe, the as the doctors thought they were giving him a death sentence he used that time to prepare for his eternity, as we all should.

I am dedicating this scripture to the memory of Steve Jobs:

2 Timothy 4:6-8

6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
